If you haven’t seen these are wheels for a drift trike but how cool is it seeing them go round like that.

You forgot the step "hope your welds hold up"

That's a beautiful looking steel sphere by the way.

Hey, folks! If you’re going to try this at home, please listen to and do what the man said, and FILL IT WITH WATER!!!! If you don’t, someone will likely die or be seriously hurt. The stored energy in compressed air at several hundred to maybe 2, 000 psi could send fragments flying if the vessel ruptures. Water doesn’t compress, so there’s little to no danger if it ruptures.

Im a sheet metal worker that makes complex shapes like this and even im pretty impressed how well that worked thats a full day in the shop to hammer out something like no easy task and very labour intensive

A tip from a long time welder/ fitter. Stagger the seams of your welds to increase your strength, having them run in-line is asking for heartbreak.

What I appreciate about your videos is that behind all of your madcap shenanigans there's a bit of mad scientist and showmanship that backed up with rock solid skills and workmanship add up to one helluva entertaining video. Hats off to you sir. Please keep the videos coming

I worked every job there is in the oil field, the hydraulic fluid is critical, as another person mentioned. The integrity of the welds is way up in the same list of things that could kill you if handled improperly. Thank you Colin, you are quite fantastic and your folly’s fuel my imagination

I can't believe all this time my pressure washer had this secret skill without me even knowing I have a pressure washer.

That's really smart. I thought you were going to use explosive forming for a minute, and I was going to ask how you got a license for doing that as a small shop!

This technique is called hydroforming. Water is used because it's incompressible, which means if a weld breaks there's no explosion.
Using air or other compressible materials would be dangerous, since a break would make the compressed material expand rapidly (explosively).

Damn, solid weldin'. Did you at least check for leaks first or just wholehogged it from the get go?

A bit of advice: you should put the longitudinal welds at different sectors of the circle, like brickwork. In the event of a crack, it won't expand the whole length of the ball.

This just reminds me of his hydroforming video.
