Today Jon explores a little French SUV. The Peugeot 3008 is a well-rounded SUV that delivers decent equipment and enough performance to haul a family of five. Will our resident history buff finally fall in love with the French?

It has been a while since you do the review. Miss your review. Like your comment in concluding the review on the dependability on French car 😊😊

For those who have had bad experience with Peugeot cars previously, it's pretty true for the previous generations. The new generations using the Puretech engines have vast improvement in their build quality compared to the previous generations.

BTW, this review missed out the boot floor board can be lowered to give more boot space and the tonneau cover can be kept below the boot floor board.

Love my 3008. You can click the ac at the top of the screen rather than clicking the lower button and then the screen. Glovebox, skip that with the massive centre space. You can also drop the boot floor to gain even more space

I own the Diesel version of the 3008 1/5 Liters for more then 2 years. It is completely reliable and very pleasant to drive and use. So... don't let people spoil your fun with "once upon a time" stories. And, yes - thanks for the review.

There are mainly 2 groups of Singaporeans. The first group are risk aversed who will stick to the tried and tested Japanese. The second group will just go for the badge. If you Google or search on YouTube the least reliable cars, you will find that they are dominated by all the big German car brands. You can ask any BMW owners and most will tell you the long list of issues they faced with their cars. But to them the badge conquers everything. French cars on the other hand are highly underrated. Their reliability has improved over the past ten years. And I am a proud owner of 4 French cars to date. I just retired my almost 10yrs old 207cc and got a 5008. And I belonged to the minority group who wants to drive something special and unique. Talk to any Peugeot owners, and they will tell you the special connections they have with their car. On one hand, I feel injustice for the French car brands while the popular German brands can get away so easily with their lousy reliability records. But on the other hand, I just hope the Singaporean mentality on cars stays as I want my favourite brand to stay uniquely for the group who can look beyond the badge.

I discovered your reviews, in particular the excellent reviews by Jon while researching French SUVs here. I have to say, I've seen a lot of car reviews and by far the ones by Jon are the best local auto reviews. Why? Because he injects knowledge and intelligence in a simple, fuss free way. No long beatings-around-the-bush, no vanity monologues nor superficial comments. Rather he focuses on things that matter to us, or to quote him, the proverbial elephant in the center of the room. In this video, the way he discusses the French "reliability" perception while pointing out Japanese parts used in the 3008 really nailed it for me as a potential French car buyer. Yes, resale value may be affected by the perceptions here of buyers, but from any reliability research online, you can tell Peugeots have come a long way. It's main hurdle here now is ingrained mindsets rather than it's product offering. Thank you Jon and keep the reviews coming. - D.

16:30 as an ex-Peugeot 3008 driver (previous gen), I have to admit that my family sold off the car within 2.5 years (2016-2018) as a result of the frequency of various components failing over time. From malfunctioning coolant temperature sensor to faulty BlueHDI pump to broken aircon compressor and more, it left us pretty disappointed with the car despite being a nice vehicle to drive in. 😅😅

And yes, as mentioned by the rest, very appalling resale value.

If driving up north, is it advisable to get the 1.6T? Is the 1.2T alright for up North?

Does it come with ambient light?

Excellent point mentioned, sharing car parts is so common now that it's hard to draw a line between specific brands. The stigma that comes from perhaps our parents carries over and affects our opinion as well. Personally owns and enjoys the 5008 but many would frown upon the mention of its brand, the resale value and reliability. I would say "try it to believe it"

I have this 3008 for 2.5years and its been good so far. Its using aisin transmission and the award winning engine. I was surprised with the power from this tiny engine, good fuel economy and cheap roadtax. Yes interface could be better, like the lack of ac button, and the 2 useless dedicated heated seat button, only the french could do this
