Peugeot 3008 SUV 2020 in-depth review | carwow Reviews

The new Peugeot 3008 takes a radical departure from the car that came before it. Where the old one looked ungainly and frumpy, its replacement is one of the sharpest family crossovers on the market. So the looks are sure to catch the eye, but how does it drive? Is it good enough to tempt buyers away from rivals like the Nissan Qashqai or the SEAT Ateca? Find out as I put it to the carwow test in my full in-depth review.

Peugeot is kinda underrated these days, the interior is beautiful.

I'm living in the USA now and miss the European cars. This is a gorgeous car and sadly here we are stuck we the boring CR-Vs and RAV4s...

I have owned the new 3008 for a 6 weeks now and its been great. I got the 1.6 120 hp and it fantastic. It turns heads all the time.

This car strikes a good balance. Not too boring like Volkswagen, but not too form-over-function like the toyota C-HR

this is probably the most awesome looking crossover ever. And of course the interior...my gosh that is amazing.

After a lot of research, and a final seal of approval from Matt, I bought the 1.2l auto 3008 GT Line a year ago. Love it so much I decided to revisit this review a year later (like re-reading a love letter). This car is a pleasure to drive and the interior and kit, for the price and relative to competitors I considered, is fantastic. Tip: Definitely get the electric kick tailgate (I use mine all the time when my hands are full of shopping bags or sports kit) and seriously consider the grip control (for about €200 it takes only one bad snow storm to make you happy that you did, and you also get different rims for that price which will differentiate your 3008 from others on the road!). As Matt says, just buy it!!

Well I'll be damned. French car with interior even Germans could envy for. It seems like a very nice place to travel in, also the exterior is quite pleasing, stands out from all them "gray diesels". I'd probably buy this instead of some VAG equivalent in 5-6 years when I could actually afford one. Bravo Peugeot!

Many people underestimate French cars' build quality although actually premium German cars' interiors (BMW, Mercy, Audi etc) are built by the French company Faurecia. And Faurecia is actually Groupe PSA's subsidiary. In other words, those nice German cars' premium interiors are actually built by the French.

The most practical car ever produced. Well done to Peugeot designer team.

Peugeot has a good reputation in India even though it was discontinued many years ago. Their diesel engines made way to other car models like Suzuki Zen, Suzuki Esteem, Hyundai Accent ets and was considered one of the reliable engines.

Read a couple of comments asking for a reliability issues. I've had this car for 2 years now. An absolutely brilliant car. Considered Volvo XC40 also. XC40 is already looking a bit meh. This car still looks pretty dang good. Some may be worried about its power. But, I found it more than plenty even when I had to be somewhat heavy footed. The interior is, arguably, the best in its price range. Nothing comes remotely close to its simple elegance. It is also very functional, unlike many other Sports "Utility" Vehicles, which have boot space of a VW Golf (if not smaller). Driving dynamics is good. The small steering wheel is a joy to use.
With reliability...I haven't had major issues with it...like engine failure or head gasket blowing. But, I had to take it to the dealer as the driver's side seatbelt warning light and beep came on intermittently while driving (with seatbelt on!). Then became so bad that it was on almost at all times, which became supremely annoying. Dealership unplugged and replugged the harness, which seemed to solve the issue. But, that issue has come back.
Two weeks ago, "Engine Fault: Repair Needed" warning light came up and the car lost throttle while I was driving. I pulled over, restarted the car and it seemed okay. Anyway, had the car towed to the dealer and it ended up being the fuel tank issue. Something about it leaking and flooding the cat filter. Both fuel tank and cat filter were replaced under warranty.
On the way back from the dealer, the seatbelt warning light and beep came on again. Also, it rained that night. I had complained about apparent rust on the panoramic sunroof rubber gasket. The dealer brushed it off as "just grease". When I reversed the following morning, water poured out from top of the rearview mirror. And did it when I stopped, etc. I inspected the sunroof rubber gasket. It definitely seemed like a proper rust and I'm assuming the water got in through there.
Also, the plastic trims that run vertically alongside the windscreen had come pretty loose for some time. Something about the clips being broken off due to "fatigue".
Anyway, took my car in against today to address all those issues.

Perhaps, just little issues in the grand scheme of things, except the sunroof rubber gasket one. Something like that simply shouldn't happen to a car just around 2 years old. Trims coming loose, I thought French cars were renowned for that. But, thought they'd fixed it recently. Maybe not. Fuel tank...could be a freak occurrence, could be a design fault. Who knows? Seatbelt warning electrical issues, a minor but rather annoying one.
So, yeah, there they are. 4 issues I've had with the car, which all happened in the last 3~4 months.

I have had a Peugeot 3008 for 6.5 years - no trouble at all, still in showroom condition - hasn't cost me a penny in repairs or unplanned maintenance (other than tyres).
I trialled the new one and for a number of reasons didn't like it or the attitude of the dealer who supplied my previous 2 Peugeots. It is better styled but (like many other marques) relies too much on toys to appeal to drivers.

I ordered the SEAT Ateca 4WD and have to wait 6 months until delivery (in France) - due end of June.

Do not believe all the negative (unproven) criticisms of Peugeot - Trolls are everywhere.

Far and away the BEST reviewer I have ever seen! I have been reading car mags since I was 10, 26 years ago. And your reviews are just amazing. Better than anyone I've ever come across on YouTube, blogs, vlogs et cetera. Keep up the great work mate! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

People talking about german interiors, i would like to remind you that Faurecia, a huge company that provides many manufacturers like Audi or VW with entire car interiors, is a french company.
So a lot of those german car interior are actually french made.

Great review Matt. We have the Allure version and have to say the 1.2 engine is a real surprise. The look of it has drawn a lot of attention with people saying it's like a Land Rover but a bit chunkier. And the interior is so easy to use and very well laid out. It's certainly a change from our Octavia estate.

This has to be my favourite cat I’ve ever had the pleasure to possess! One thing that’s mor mentioned is that it’s solidly built.. I was in a collision and the car suffered a few scrapes while the other car was absolutely battered. Walked away unscathed at 60mph

Big thanks to Mat and the CarWow team.

I had a 2011 2.0 litre diesel Renault Laguna TomTom edition. This was an emergency buy as our 2nd child came along.

I spent about a year researching the next car for my family. I wanted an SUV and wanted to move back to petrol. I went back and forth between many options. But thanks to these videos I eventually settled on a Peugeot 3008 GT Line. I actually managed to get a 2019 petrol model for a really good deal. I've had the car for 4 months and it is amazing.

Thank you Mat for all the advice and review footage. I absolutely love my 3008 and there are absolutely no regrets.

Thank you.

Got this...Premium Line. Loving it. Also looked at the XC40 and it really wasn't worth the extra money considering how much more the Pug gave.

I think this is one of the best looking (exterior and interior) suv you can buy at that price level.
