6. Down tune it to the pits of hell

3. Amp - all the bass and treble, no mids
Make sure the amp is a Line 6 Spider on the insane channel.

Props! My tip ( must have a looper) create a loop- maybe a riff, play it in all all switch positions-Now let the loop play as your free to adjust your amp, pedals -make notes of the various knob positions/pedal combos - Boom!Cheers

All kidding aside when you play with other musicians you need to scoop out the bass and let the bass player handle the low end. when playing in you bedroom you tend to EQ things on the low end when you need more mids and highs.

Important contributors to tone: Pick type, string make and gauge, bridge height from pickups, pickup make and type, activated pickup selection, intonation health, tone pot settings, pick attack, fretting confidence, cab make, amp make, eq settings, atmo effects, gain quality and volume.

Perfect Metal Toan =Scoop the mids, buy 5 metal zones, turn up the gain, and just play the two common power chord shapes.

Obviously the best way to dial in the tone is to twiddle knobs at random, since the tone is all in teh fingers!

Now set your gain to 10 and play with delay, you now know Yngwie's eq settings.

I found my "perfect tone", that is the one I personally prefer, using a Fender Deluxe Reverb Ri. The fact that the amp does not have a mid control is amazing. It means the raw character of the guitar is a lot more apparent and tone defining. Also, just adjusting Bass and Treble is easy and almost idiot proof! With this amp, if you have a decent guitar and decent technique, it's almost impossible to dial in a bad tone.

I think of it as the treble being bite, mids being heaviness, bass being warmth, and gain being saturation. I just play the same riff over and over again and see what's needed. I mainly play Holy Wars by Megadeth to do this because it has a bit of every technique
