Southgate has been so lucky to manage the greatest generation of England footballers. He isn't gpod enough to win.

Both Klopp and Pep have said they wouldn’t mind coaching England, the FA should have fired Southgate right there. Give Klopp and Pep the talent of England has of technical and athletic and fast players, England would dominate for the decade but they are wasting this talent on a guy who wouldn’t even be able to hired for championship club

I agree it's time to change, hes done well to get as far as he has but thats the furthest he can get with golden opportunities to bring the cups home. Good players coming through, bellingham and now the likes of nketiah, id really love to see how people like guardiola do with the team.

For the record, i don't agree that we've been singing its coming home since 1966, its 1996. Any decades before that its a moot point that any team hopes to bring 'it' home.

England are knocking on the door now. I think they will win a major tournament this decade. Pep as manager would be amazing but not sure it would happen

Anyone, literally any manager in the top 5 leagues in Europe and probably even the Championship could do a better job. Southgate has had the easiest run possible and has still failed

If you have the chance to work with pep, you take it. Your comparing a Toyota (Southgate) to a Lamborghini. (Pep)

Even when wenger and ferguson were the best coaches in England they were linked to becoming England managers but it didn't happen so I would not like pep to go and manage England coz man city it's their time now to dominante Europe now so i wouldn't love that move to happen

I think English fans are ungrateful. I agree he lacks tactical flexibility. But before him england never got to the quarter final of a competition

Absolutely ridiculous analysis/response, lacking any sort of research or basis in reality by Nico and Alexis to Davies regarding the claim of Southgate being a success. Their reductive response boils down to “If you ain’t first, you’re last” is so typical of someone fishing for clicks versus holding an actual position and presenting data that backs up your claim.

England were in an abysmal place when Southgate took over and while I do not believe he is going to win them a trophy, it is undeniable, and quite unbelievable, that he and his staff have turned the team into legitimate contenders in every tournament he has been in charge; not just based on their talented players, but also on a system/style of play that appears to work for a deep run in major tournaments.

To mention Pep or Klopp as potential successors is so unbelievably naive and utterly outrageous it beggars belief that these two “professionals” thought it was a good idea to make such a ludicrous suggestion and indicates that the show’s producers have no understanding of the sport nor do they have any standards with regards to the word salad that is regularly spewing from their own pundit’s mouths.

It’s exchanges like these that have shaped my opinion that this show, and most of the pundits, are amateur hour at best and have very little of substance to offer those of us actually interested in world football.
