How To Optimize Photos To Save Space On iPhone

In this quick tech how-to video, I’m going to show you a real quick setting you can change on your iPhone in order to optimize your photos using iCloud and saving storage space on your phone.

To turn this feature on, head to Settings.

Scroll down until you see Photos and tap on it.

Now in here, make sure that iCloud Photos is turned on. This will automatically save a copy of all your photos and videos into your iCloud account, where you can access them from all of your Apple devices.

The feature that we’re looking for though is the next one. Most people will already have the iCloud Photos enabled but probably won’t have this one set.

By choosing Optimize iPhone Storage, your photos and videos will be stored in full resolution to your iCloud account but will be replaced by much smaller optimized versions that are perfect for mobile devices.

After you turn this feature on, you’ll start to notice some free space appearing as your library is being optimized.

And that’s how you can quickly free up some space on your iPhone by optimizing photos and storing full resolution versions to iCloud Photos.

Im on ipad that has 32 gb of storage. I deleted about 3 hours of old videos from Icloud. Would that increase the amount of free space I have?
