I love how its a timeless tradition of humanity to just throw the hat on if you're too lazy to wash your hair. 😂

I learned that rice water actually adds minerals to make hair grow back.

After all the different lovely period/dynasty dresses, I would love a short or shorts explaining the different types of dresses for each period/dynasty. Or at least the most popular ones. They're all so beautiful

Ancient Indians used something called "Ritha" Also known as Indian Soapberry. This was a fruit with natural foaming abilities. It also had a lot of medicinal properties to help strengthen and grow hair. It was also used for face washing.
Indians also created the first shampoo ever with the same fruit.
This fruit is still is used in a lot of shampoo formulations even today.

Natives in America continent used soapy plants to wash their hair, I wonder if Asia has plants of this kind

Northeast Indian people used 'Kol Khar', which was made from the ashes of burnt dried banana peels. My grandmother still uses it.

My Chinese family goes back to the Tang dynasty when Empress Wu Zetian (武則天) was in rule and we still have a Bi Zi (篦子) and it's now a family artifact that apparently goes back around 1399 years. It has not been touched without gloves for well over 1000 years If i'am not wrong, mostly because it was touched by empress Zetian but that's just a rumor and my family has yet to discover who it actually had been used, touched, or owned by, but it's calmed to be owned by one of my aunts or something

Even in india. Till 90s many people used to wash their hair with particular ash. Their hair were sooo good. I've seen my aunts washing their long and thick hair with that ash.

The Bi Zi is called "suyod" in the Philippines. I remember my grandmother using it on me when I was a child and had lice 😂 I had to sit still for such a long time.

The fact that the comb can still be bought online through sites like Aliexpress and rice water made a viral comeback is wild and fascinating. Something old AND new.

They also use :
Sapindus saponaria (wingleaf soapberry).
And seed of camellia plants (wash off oil efficiently, thus not to use everyday)

When i was listening to this, I think it was said they used plum ash. Well, as a soap maker, to make soap, you need ash, oil/fat, and water. They were possibly making a gentle soap with their concoction. The ash in part with water makes sodium hydroxide, which when mixed with fat. Saponifiys (spelling) and makes soap. Back in the day, it was called lye soap.

These are always so interesting to watch as a black woman. We also have “wash days” where we’ll just spend a few hours on washing and styling. And we’ll also wear wigs, hats (satin bonnets or scarves), or extensions to protect the hair and avoid frequent washing. So cool 🥰🥰🥰

I have been wondering this as I watch so many historical fantasy dramas. I am in the "not wash" camp. Such a pain in the arse. But their hair was uber long. I also happen to be watching the same dramas as the samples you have used. Was such a buzz in Eternal Love when the prince had his hair out. They NEVER have their hair out completely so when you see it so awesome! The women - never!
Maybe a video on that? Hair formalities!
Love the long hair on the men. At least in these shows all the wigs are super clean and shiny lol.
