As a cosplayer who has a week to cram in a cosplay before the convention, you are saving my life.

I am a beginner when it comes to sewing...this was easy to follow and create. Thank you for taking your time and explaining the "why" you cut things the way their cut. Knowing the "why" helps me tremendously as I can't always see it in my head.

My 10 year old grandson was able to follow your directions and make his cloak all by himself! Excellent directions and pictures! Thank you!

I am glad you ACTUALLY discussed purchasing the fabric based on height and body size. I just saw a video where all the viewers praised the girl making the cloak, but without proper sizing many will end up with a cloak that is to short, too long or too baggy for their shoulder width.

A White Soap bar works well to trace and washes out easily.

Fabulous. At first it sounds intimidating and you think, "I couldnt never do this, " but after a moment, you go, "oh i get it! I could definitely do this!" Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for this, last minute request by my daughter (as is tradition) and I sewed up a nice cloak for her in no time.

This was a great tutorial! It was very easy to follow for the "sorta beginner" sewer. I made my son an Obi Wan Kenobi cloak for Halloween...he LOVED it. Thank you so much!!

So easy to make, the instructions were crystal clear! I've made 4 of these for my friends and I (we're Lord of the Rings + Hobbit fans) and they were so happy :) Thank you for this awesome video!

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just finished making a green rangers apprentice cloak and a charcoal Gryffindor cloak for the book week parade. You’ve made two young readers very happy!

Thank you. I have made far too many full length lined woolen cloaks to count. Having a great, quick, serviceable option is awesome.

Thankyou :) I think outside the box and live in a small area with a few homeless. I could see this as a fleece with a lining for a somewhat warm fall wrap up at night time and warmth when the wind is chillly.

Thank you so much for this easy tutorial! My daughter wanted a cloak for her and a friend for a game they play. We didn’t have time to go get fleece fabric so we ended up using two fleece blankets and just made it mid calf length. Worked great! And was cheaper than buying by the yard. Plus it gave me an opportunity to teach my daughter how to use the sewing machine. Win win!

Thank you! I used this tutorial to make a cloak for my daughter for a Hufflepuff costume. It was so fast and turned out so well that my son wanted one for his costume. When it was done my other son was so excited that he wanted me to make one for him as well. I had enough leftover fabric to make ones for my other two sons... and I might have picked up enough fleece to make cloaks for my husband and I as well :P My second son has been wearing his everywhere and wondering why cloaks ever went out of style 😂

Thank you very much. As my first sewing project I am making a cloak. This really helped as it was simple and easy for me to adjust to my needs and didn’t require me to know everything already! Thank you very much or this video. I hope your son liked his cloak :)

This will be so fun and easy for me and my boyfriend to do together. Im doing most of the costume construction for the ren fair but I think he will love his cloak even more if he gets to help make it!

I've followed this tutorial twice now.
The first time was a year ago in February 2023; I made a black one out of a double-sided waterproof & fleece material, with a pointed hood and hook+eye fasteners.
Today, I've followed it again - this time I've made a light grey one out of fairly thin wool, with a rounded hood and snap fasteners. I've yet to see how it performs outside or how long it'll hold out before needing repairs.
I like your video, it's very good and really easy to follow compared to your competition. I found it amusing that other people have criticised you for sewing, when you've very clearly talked about the alternative 😂
I'm sort of experimenting with cloak materials - will I make one out of fleece, linen or anything else next? We'll see. Anyway, thanks for making this video - it's given me something to do! 😊

To determine which side of outerwear fleece is the outside or right side, pull it along the cut edge before you start, till it starts curling in on itself. Then think of the way your hand curls when you curl your fingers toward your palm. If it curls in on itself, like the inside of your palm, that’s the wrong side.

You’re a great stepmom! Just being like oh sure I’ll make you a cloak without thinking twice is amazing.
