Let me know your thoughts on the Sharks Off-Season

Don’t forget about Musty who plays really well with Will Smith

I'm not sure you remember how big of a goal Barclay Goodrow had for the Sharks when he used to play here. With these newest moves he'll be just fine.

Great draft, great trades, and some good signings this offseason. Firing Quinn was also a very necessary first step. The tear down is complete. All the moves this offseason were steps towards building the team back up. Now we’ll see how the new coaching staff develops these players and provides the right opportunities.

Agree that the team has done a great job lining up superb prospects, especially on offense....and bringing in Toffoli and Wennberg also was smart. ..Not so impressed with the D'allandrea, Kunin and Grundstrom signings...this creates a logjam in the bottom six with mediocrities who didn't contribute that much even when they were on much better teams. They have lots of talented young forwards who deserve a crack at some of these slots - like Bordeleau, Musty, Guschin and Bystedt. Agree the D should be slightly better this year, but 3rd pair vets like Ceci, Rutta and Benning can only get you so far. I hope they make room for Mukhamedullin to play for the Sharks this year at D, and bring on Dickinson 1-2 years down the road. In goal, Blackwood was MUCH better than his stats would suggest - just look at the crappy team he had in front of him - and he and Askerov will make a great 1-2 pair. All in all, this should be a fun team to watch this year

Taffoli's wife has family near the Bay Area. He gained some location stability with this contract. Goodrow was originally an undrafted free agent who broke in with the Sharks. He was traded to the Lightning for a 1st round pick. Mike Greer took the organization from needing the few decent prospects to succeed to having a number of good young prospects needing to prove they deserve an NHL roster spot.

i think mike grier did great. im a sens fan, but i always hate to see a team do so bad. i like all the moves he did. ceci and walman, awesome pair, finally mike hoffmans gone, kunin, bailey, and zetterland are young and growing. i say A+

A couple of notes. You were talking about getting Walman for future considerations but it was Walman AND a second for future considerations, so they got a second for taking on his contract. You also mentioned Lucas Carlsson, that was an AHL signing (two way deal).

Great Video, as usual, Mine. I usually agree with you, but, I've got to disagree with you. Even though he's done pretty good, in The Summer, he did some very strange things, including but not limited to making poor David Quinn (who I know has not been Scotty Bowman, but has done A Decent Job - as he did with An Equally Bad New York Rangers Team).

Don’t forget that Grier got Walman AND a 2nd for future considerations. STEAL of a trade

Sharks might not be the worst team in the league anymore?

I actually think they might be a little better this coming season than you think, I mean if look they still have a bit money and I wouldn’t be shocked if they go add another decent dean and maybe another forward to the roster. I might be bit excited but think they could passably be pushing for playoffs innnext couple years

Great overview. And, so much has changed in San Jose, it seems many have forgotten that one of the big things that preceded all of these moves Grier made was a change at head coach. Warsofsky steps into his first NHL head coaching role when camp opens up next month. With all of the changes in personnel behind the bench and on the ice, I wouldn't be surprised to see a goal differential swing as much as 70, 75, maybe 80 goals from last year to this year. Maybe 100 goals depending how the kids develop and how the PP & PK come together with the changes. Which is absolutely incredible change from year to year. Granted we were a -146 in goal differential last year, so plenty of work to do still, but I expect we're gonna be a markedly better team and much MUCH tougher to play against than we were last season.

Best breakdown of Sharks off season moves.

The Pacific is an incredibly week divison. It should not surprise anyone if SJS finish 6th or 5th in the divison.

Hoffman will be lucky to end up in the KHL

Potential for one of the best off seasons in SJ history and good on Grier for making it happen. I like how he adds little fail-safes in deals like the conditional pick for Vegas and he seems to have a solid vision of what kind of team he wants. The Ceci trade is the only one Im kinda meh on because you bring him in for veteran presence on the blueline, that has no new prospects going into the lineup.
