Let me know your thoughts on the Flyers Off Season…I’m grading the Flyers off season as a B-

Sometimes it's better not make any moves, you got a former selke winner that could rebound, a Russian phenom, a guy who scored 20 goals in his rookie campaign, not to mention the emergence of Tippet, and TK has turned into an all-star. Give the youth time to grow see what you have this year and they have multiple 1st round picks for a deep draft this year. Patients will be needed to build a cup contender.

Fedotov and Michkov has the same Agent. The Money offered to Fedotov was to grease the wheels to get the Michkov deal done.

the reason Fedotov's numbers were not very good is because he was thrown into the fire. and Coach Tortorella knew that. I even heard something like Fedotov didn't even have proper equipment to use. and everyone talks about how NHL games are different from KHL games. rink size and such.

Losing their #1 goalie and best playing defensemen last year via a trade to COL (Walker), in addition to the decline of Couturier (coming off injury) were the main reasons for the end-of-season fizzle out.

Don’t love the TK signing long term but he’s a great player and they don’t grow on trees.

Fedotov’s numbers may have been tied to playing chess, not checkers. Reasonable potential once he’s settled, but also shared the same agent as Michkov prior to him coming here. 🤔

Would have liked to see a hockey trade for a solid Center but we shall see what happens with all those 2025 1st round picks. Once the cap restraints ease up and we see how the next draft stacks up, the future could be bright.

Danny didn't have much room to work with concerning the salary cap. and it's too early to make big splashes in signings and trades.

I think you are discussing the Flyers as if they were trying to improve the team, but they are really just acquiring assets still and waiting for contracts to come off their books over the next two years. Summer of 2026, I would expect them to be active.

I would’ve given Briere/Flyers a B+. Hear me out. This offseason was gonna be dull, no major splashes. Briere came out and said that early on. He knows he just has to get through this year with the cap (Peterson, part of Atkinson, DeAngelo, that’s $7 mil + off the books. That doesn’t account for $6.25 mil and $4 mil for Ellis and Johansen respectively. So over $17 million total next year but, Frost (if he stays) needs a new contract, York needs a new contract (I suspect a bridge deal). So not doing the ole sign free agents to big contracts was a win in of itself. He got Michkov (possible Franchise altering player). Konecny deal although not many like the money amount (including me at first) it is actually on par with guys that have same stats that have far better teams. The Fedotov deal I believe was to help Michkov come over I’m assuming and his upside. So two years with a slight price tag to help Michkov come over is worth it. Michkov also has Zamula and our one coach to lean on great support plus gave him the red carpet treatment since he got here. Adding a first rd pick is always a plus especially next year a deep forward draft.

The lack of moves show patience and poise by the staff.

We added by subtracting with RyJo, and by not dealing away a number of players.

Great Video, as usual, Mike. I think, that, although he's doing a good job, Danny Briere has a Rollercoaster Ride Thpe of a Summer. He's in a bit of a bad situation, especially given the fact that Torts has this very Military Style on A Young Team (I'm not saying that Torts is a bad coach, quite the contrary, but, to have him isolating his Veterans, such as Atkinson & Johansson, doesn't send such a good message to the Young Players). Let me know what you think. I'd give Briere nearly an A-. I think that he had made so many moves during the season, he didn't need to do very much.

If Hart had not had to leave easy a playoff team

Getting Michkov here was such an accomplishment that it FEELS like a busy offseason even though it technically wasn’t.

Cap space problems that Danny B. Inherited. I believe he came out and said they want to get that squared away in the next two seasons. He always said it will be a three year process.

TK deal was very slight overpay as a reward for sticking with the Flyers long term. If they let him go, they'd have to find another player just like him. He's getting better & hasn't peaked yet either. Fedotov was big overpay as a deal to get him & Michkov here as they share the same agent. Definitely some backroom dealing going on. Gotta grease the wheels in Russia & KHL. So had to be done. Briere didn't do much this offseason as the focus was on Michkov & waiting for dead money to clear the books. Also, they are banking on the 2025 draft as they have so many first & second round picks.

Flyers were strapped for cash, there was not much they could do. We’ll prob see some wheelin’ and dealin’ near the trade deadline & the draft. They have 6 early picks in a deeper than usual draft. I doubt they will use all those as picks. I see them moving up somehow. Fedotov was tossed in there when the team was struggling & he literally couldn’t use his own pads due to differences in regulations between the NHL/KHL and I’d imagine it’s not easy finding pads for a 6’7 goaltender. I hope Couturier can get back to where he was in the beginning of the season after finding out he was dealing with an injury half of the year. Matvei Michkovim bullish on, he’s been playing with men since he was 16. I have him at 25+ goals and 25+ assists. On to Jamie Drysdale, a lot of people are down on him in Phillybut I think he’ll be fine as long as he stays healthy. He was the consensus #1 DMan his draft year. He was brought up too early and hampered his development. Tyson Foerster is a really good two way forward with a wicked shot (20 goals rookie year). Owen Tippett has potential to be a 35-40 goal scorer. TK was slightly overpaid, however you don’t just find TK’s out there because teams to usually let those type of players go. Oliver Bonk is showing a lot of promise, Denver Barkey is looking to be a steal, he just needs to bulk up, which he has been doing. At first I was a bit confused with the Luchenko pick in hindsight I really like the pick. He was only 2-3 weeks away from not being old enough for the draft. One of the fastest players out there, great motor, good defensively and led his dismal temp in points. I have a feeling he will be a damn good player. Wow, didn’t set out to write a prologue for a novel.
