@kabouterplop19 That was actually one of the more entertaining parts of the trip. I wsa talking with the taxi driver in town and arranging the ride to the airport. He picked us up ~45 minutes prior to the departure time and we drove up the road to the airport. He then put on his reflective vest and went to work as the ground agent for the airline. It was impossible to be late as our driver did the dispatch, too.

The famous "shortest flight" is a single leg of a round trip flight from Kirkwall, the whole journey is scheduled for about 42 minutes with two five minute stops on each island. The reason the flight exists is that it connects onward at both ends to Kirkwall, the heart of the Orkney Islands. That would be a several hour ferry rather than the ~45 minute flight.
