Come with me on a realistic daily grocery shop in France. This is a 30-minute grocery shopping route to my local butcher, baker, produce shop, and grocery store.

I'm Jessica, a Canadian living in a new country each month. Currently, I am in Grenoble, France which is located at the foot of the French Alps. Since being here, I have learned some key grocery shopping tips as well as some major grocery shopping differences.

Great video, thanks for putting this together. The reason for the more frequent grocery shop is that there are fewer preservatives so things do go bad (or stale for bread as you said) much quicker. One of the big differences between NAmerica and most other continents ;) I still grocery shop in Ottawa about twice a week

Hey there ! It's so interesting to see grocery shopping in France from a foreigner's point of view :) Like it's funny how you mention the aisles being pretty empty, they look perfectly normal to me 😅 (I'm french btw)

I love that there is so little plastic bags inside your grocery bag, I imagine they are stricter there. Also in one of the shots I saw so many bicycles outside, are you going to get one for yourself?

I do agree that most Europeans shop more or less on a daily basis, especially for breads. This a great video showing the smaller local stores . but they do have one stop shopping and it is very popular. Carrefour, Leclerc etc. Those are called Hypermarkets and they have everything from electronics to clothing to every food imaginable and huge selections of alcohol.
