Red spots in the sclera near the conjunctiva may be due to the bleeds or hemorrhage from the blood vessels in the eye. If this can be cause if there is a straining or excessive force caused by the sneezing and coughing or if there is any trauma as such. In case if there is a trauma or watering of eye or increased irritation or baby is not able to look into the sunlight. For such things baby has to be taken to the ophthalmologist to look into the eye if there is any damage to the cornea or other part of the eye. Just a red spot is like a bruise in the skin and usually it takes around 1 to 2 weeks to subside an it usually subsides on its own.
