"I miss my daughter, Tails... I miss her a lot."

I cried during this. I didn't expect a sonic game to make me cry but Sage's arc is simply heartwrenching.

The scene at the "bad ending" where Eggman is all alone on that cliff contrasted to Sonic together with all of his friends is just beautiful. Not in the context of the story but the presentation

Father, I just wanna tell you
Thank you for all that you've given me
I'm really going to miss you
I hope you're not mad at me

Took me time to realize
My heart is for what data can't do
Feelings growing deep inside
Have taught me what it means to love you

I know now that "love" is beautiful
I know now the reason why these tears fall from my eyes
This is goodbye
I'm happy to have been your creation, to have been your child
Father, I wanted to make you proud
Father, I will keep you safe
I wish I could have found a way to stay with you forever
Then maybe wе could be a family born of "love"

Be a family born of "lovе"
Be a family born of "love"
Be a family born of "love"

Hope that you feel the same
Till we meet again
Hope that you feel the same
Till we meet again
Thank you for everything

Man.... This and Dear my Friend has some of the most emotional song in the Sonic series, and also, This song actually has the same connection to Dear my Friend, like there is a 1 character (Sage & Chip) won't see ever again since they die of something happened, and then there is a 1 character (Eggman & Sonic) will be feel bad and very sad for those 2 characters.

(Sorry for my grammar)

Saddest death of an Eggman creation since gamma.

Makes you want to tell everyone you know and love how much you care for them any chance you get. I definitely feel this way alot cause I don't have too much family and friends of my own. I actually lost my father too so this hits harder for me...Don't ever take anyone for granted anyone, cause you never know how much you love them until their gone.

It's interesting how Unleashed and Frontiers seem to mirror each other so much to each other, and I think one particular paralelism that I haven't seen mentioned is Sonic and Eggman's reaction to each other's significant other (to Sonic, a Dear Friend to him, to Eggman, his Dear Daughter). Sonic brandishes Chip's bracelet for the credits, but he doesn't keep it, because he is a moving soul. It doesn't mean that he had forgotten about Chip, it's just that he was able to come to terms with his sacrifice, and moved on (he probably hasn't lost it or anything, I suspect he may be keeping it somewhere else, although it would be great to have it as a cosmetic choice for the player, but whatever). Sonic still has other people to care for, and he doesn't let his grieve slow him down. But Eggman, he is different. He is much more likely to be stuck in the past, seen with his hatred towards the hedgehog and his rivalry with him (which had reached a peak of pure unadulterated hatred in Unleashed) and how he became a scientist due to him looking up to Gerald, the scientist who he may have thought may have been the only one to understand him. But, as we see in the games, Eggman always looses because he is too confident on himself, too self absorbed that he can't see the error in his ways. And he was so focused to be this grandiose image of himself that he ended up alone. The only allies that accompany are his robots, and even then sometimes they betray him. It was Sage who let him see that he didn't need to always be alone, that there could be someone that could understand him. And, when he looses her, he can't move on. He becomes desperate in his grieving, and tries to bring the remains of the only person who could have loved him. But, it is left for us to see what will become of his desesparation, and how it'll affect his daughter.

Chip and Sage are such interesting characters to our main characters, because we can see a side of them that truly represents who they are. Whether it be a kind flying chihuahua who likes Ice Cream who turns out to be the purest representation of everything good in His World, who is destined to exist to fight against the representation of evil to ensure the planet's fate is never that of doom, or a AI program created by an E.G.G.M.A.N, who, with the knowledge and technology of an ancient race that had created technologies that would influence hundreds of cultures and civilatations, became a glitchy semi-human girl, with the only determination to protect her father and ensure that her family stays safe, now matter the cost she may have to pay, thanks to this two, we can see who Sonic and Eggman truly are: a free person who cares to wants to help everyone he can, and a lonely doctor who only needed someone to love.

Both Dear my Friend and Dear Father are a thank you from Chip and Sage, to the people who they cared for the most, and a late goodbye for them to remind them of who they truly are deep inside.

(BTW, I've also written this in the Dear my Friend comment section)

The first vocal song actually composed by Square Enix composer TE. I knew he arranged vocal songs, but this is a new addition in terms of TE compositions.

This is even more gutting given the strong implication in the Egg Memos that Eggman ended up the way he is because of an inferiority complex he developed surrounding Maria's death and how everyone ignored in favour of her memory.

My parents are bad at being parents and i cant be around them without feeling like im going to die. I found a parent in the form of a friend that became my sibling, i never believed i could have a good parent figure but they exist and they saved me. The line “a family born of love” really got me and i started crying at it because its us
