Eliminating the tax on Social Security benefits

As a retired elementary school teacher, Sally Hokkanen and her husband rely on social security and their 401ks to make ends meet. So getting a little more in their social security checks would go a long way.

There should be no tax on retired SS benefits, Federal and State .

I think by the time you get to collect social security you've paid enough taxes.

If you're collecting Social Security benefits, you're being taxed on a tax that you've already paid.

SS benefits were not taxed until the tax reform act of 1986. When the act was implemented, interest paid on consumer loans was eliminated and SS benefits became taxable for the first time. Even since, both parties have failed to eliminate the tax on SS benefits. It's a disgrace.

This needs to happen. My ss is taxed three times, when I earned it, when I received it, and when Irma taxes me because Medicare says they can.

They should add a health care COLA. That's the biggest increase every year for seniors. 5 to 10% increase due to health insurance and health care costs would go a long way.
