As a retired teacher, I definitely do not make enough to have to pay taxes on it. Pure s*** pittance of a pension, and I worked hard my entire life for what little I have. Please, please, please don't take away Social Security 🙏 They already keep raising the age on it. I feel like I'll die before I reach the point when I can claim it

Let's not forget that the Supreme Court decided that you can give a "gratuity" to a politician a few days before Trump announced this idea. So basically politicians can legally accept bribes AND they don't have to declare them as income.

Not tax on tips means service workers would be kicked off social security. It would be similar to how farm workers and domestics were excluded social security when it was first created in 1937. Every employer would lower wages and tell his workers to get the rest from tips. Every time you would turn around their would be a palm held out to be greased. They are already asking for tips for automatic check out machines.
