I wouldn't say its dying.

More so its just people are NOT upgrading their rigs as the prices are getting more and more ridiculous.

Granted we are seeing that people are putting their foot down and PC parts are slowly dropping their prices.

I remember when I treated myself to a 980 for $300, thinking "I'm in the big boy prices now" 😂

Not dying, but it is now prohibitively expensive for the average person. I've been a PC enthusiast for the past 20 years. My PSU recently blew and took out my entire PC. I priced up a new gaming computer with entry to mid level components...and it cost $3000 AUD.

Here in Australia a PS5 is going for $617. I nabbed one and appreciate the simplicity of just hooking it up to my OLED panel and it plays and runs amazingly for the money.

Combine the price gouging with the plethora poor PC ports, it's not looking good.

If prices stay high, I don't know what the future is for PC gaming.

As a console guy with a 7900xt PC, the cost of PC has been quite the eye opener. Yes, I went higher end, but the main benefit I have seen makes me question whether it was the right call. Consoles these days are damn good, and I get that you can mod and do other things with PC, but I don’t do any of that.
Thankful to be able to build it, but it hasn’t been the game changer to me that I thought it would be.

Pc gaming isn’t dying.

People who are new are getting smarter

And people who are smart and have been updating are now smarter and realize to wait and get deals

I'd say PC gaming stagnated temporarily, I saw huge booms in PC players during the lockdowns (Particularly here in Australia) and now that it's been over for almost 2 years, I'd say people lost their mojo for the games they played to exhaustion and the new games being released are honestly lacklustre, rushed and typically filled with bugs on launch to the point that it's irritating.

Nar, pc gaming will always be above consoles and steam will always be a thing. I love it.

Graphics card prices are killing pc gaming

It's just too expensive anymore (for me).

I'm 37 with a solid paying job...but I'll keep my $399 5700xt (which powers my $299 3440x1440 monitor) until it turns to dust at this point.

AMD's flagship gpu is 1k, nvidia has seemingly lost their minds....I'll just keep what I've got for the next few years.

Gotta be honest, I have no hopes on seeing PC gaming get much more cheaper than it is right now. There are certainly a few things you can do to make it cheaper though, like aiming for 1440p instead of 4K, high presets instead of ultra, etc. It is possible to make a decend gaming rig and save money if you're not aiming for the absolute best. And in the end, you won't really notice that much of a difference.

Wouldn't say it was dying, just that I have a system that suits my needs, runs everything I need it too and I don't need to upgrade. The inflation in prices are also meaning I'm likely to stretch longer before I do upgrade.

It has never been more affordable to build a 60fps 1080p gaming PC. Very cheap, a 3060 with a ryzen 5 5600 will get you there and keep you there for 3+ years in 99% of titles, and for what? under $500?

1440p 60fps (ray traced) / 4k 60fps is more affordable than ever if you get a 4070 new (550) or 3080 used (500). So for under $700 you can get a really nice 60fps experience that would be a massive jump up from basic 1080p 60fps.

If you want higher frame rate gaming you can enable AI upscaling, turn RT off, turn settings down and keep the same price point of a $700; something like 120+/90+ fps at 1440p/4k respectivly in demanding AAA titles (generally).

It comes down to peoples desire to push a few too many eye candy things too far and/or wanting a truly top end current gen PC, you'll end up paying 1.5-2.5k instead of $700, and for what? To turn RT on? to go from 120 to 170fps? It is not worth the price jump at all IMO.

The 7600/5800x3d is overkill on CPU, and the 4070 is overkill as a GPU if you just want reasonable settings (RT minimal, AI upscaling, 90fps, 1440p, High settings). Sure reviewers can pull hogwarts legacy or the last of us out their ass and say 'look the 4070 chugs!' but lets be honest, these cards are powerful enough, the games are unoptimized as shit.

Pc gaming have always been a luxury. Even console in my opinion.
But nowadays Pc parts is ludicrous economically. However gaming pc is great if you also work and do productive work!

Due to unforseen circumstances I had to sell my rig recently, I had a 3080 ti gpu ryzen 9 5900x 32gb ddr4 ram. Loved my PC set up. I'm back on console gaming now (XSX & PS5) really enjoying the simplicity of not having to adjust settings update drivers, windows updates etc. However I'm staying subbed to this amazing channel because PC Centric is awesome! I'll always enjoy his review and build videos! Keep up the great work, I'll always be a PC gamer at heart, your content inspired me to build my former rig and may do so when I build another down the line. By the way really hoping you review the upcoming LG OLED monitors 27 & 32 inch 4K range for my consoles.

RIP PC Gamer April 2023 😢

Problem is the nickle and diminig from Nvidia and Motherboard makers, the latter are underatted because 5 or so years aggo the Z370 Taichi was around £200 and now it's way over double that, granted exchange rates *but* in that case £500+ is just insane.

You should do more builds on the budget side! Maybe even try and use used components to try and make a best price to performance. Anyway, great vids!

Definitely not dying. PC Gaming is probably in the best place it has been game wise. Steam is the dominant digital game platform in the world (the envy of console makers...) and carries our gaming library with us upgrade to upgrade. Microsoft and Sony both publish more on Steam than they ever have. What IS A PROBLEM in PC gaming is hardware...I think that is the distinction and the issue...not the gaming...the hardware :)
