For its size, sound quality, and price: this has to be the best speaker on the market right now. Great job Bose.

Usually things lose their IP rating after you open them up. It's nice to be able to see a video of it instead of having to open my own.

it is very impressive engineering by Bose. To make a mono speaker sound so pleasing is quite challenging. They made a magical speaker with this one.

It is really impressive of Bose to make a mono speaker which as both clarity and punchy upper Bass that sounds deep. Even JBL couldn't do something like that with the Charge 4 and flip 5.

i love this thing. I only got it last night but I am absolutely stunned by how good it sounds. The cool thing is is that bose is located a couple towns over from me. So maybe my speaker was made there. That Bosch screwdriver is pretty cool.

The long screws are used as pillars. Support beams to help in rigidity.

Those screws are so long because the case is plastic. All the vibrations will eventually wear out the plastic that holds the speaker in place, and the screws help make sure it'll be a long time before things start resonating.

One of my favorite things to do with these little Bluetooth speakers: set the driver on the table upside down and see how much it jumps around. Unlike a large driver, the lightweight and powerful neodymium magnet on these seems to actually provide some thrust! They’re also extremely overbuilt drivers that are quite hard to damage this way.
I remember doing this on my original 1st generation JBL charge back in the day and laughing.
This seems engineered way better than that one was. Same with the modern JBL Charge 5. Both are way better than most speakers were back then. Honestly with the Flex, Bose is finally back to the standards they set with the original Bose Soundlink mini. Flex really is the only Bose product that’s worth the price IMO. Really makes you realize how far ahead of its time the original mini from a decade ago was.

Thanks for the tear-down, the rest of us would be highly reluctant to do this... 😱 Despite being mono, from everything I've researched, the Flex sounds even better than my Bose Soundlink mini 1, so Bose have done a superb job for also keeping the size, form factor and cost in a comparable range. That full range driver in the Flex must have some real engineering chops in it.

Awesome video!
Brought mine to the beach, dropped out of my hand and fell into the sand, got some sand in the holes of the grill, got most of it out, but couldn’t figure why the sand didn’t come out of the holes in the lower part of the front grill. Now I know why, the double sided glue strip holding the grill to the housing continues about 2-3 rows of holes up, and sand will definitely stick to that. Not sure if it’s worth opening it up, it’s a small eye sore, but doesn’t have any effect of the sound itself (that I know of).
Thanks for the tear down video !

Thanks for the teardown !I was looking at this as I wanted to see how Bose managed to get that base from a pill, I suppose it is down mostly to those vibrating plates . It’s also known that Bose was passionate about acoustics from a young age and this shows it . Great job!

At 7:18 you can clearly make out the model number TPA313602 this is a Texas Instruments digital amplifier. Wouldn't surprise me if the dac was TI too. Can't quite see the numbers on it.

Love it! 😂
I’m sure Bose hates you, and YouTubers love you.
Now we know why they write in those warning labels:
Do no attempt. “To repair at home” 🙏
Respect !

Where can you buy a new battery? Or are there alternative batteries?

the csr chip is the bluetooth chip, the other big chip on the left seems to be the amplifier, and the chip next to the battery seems to be a charging/bms chip
