no to mention having your kit be balanced around the villain mechanic too. it's like how Kindred can't choose where the counterjungle objectives appear, being forced to do suboptimal tactical plays to get their kit to work. imagine if Kindred also couldn't pick the champion to hunt themselves either. and was stuck in toplane.

if I remember correctly this happened in juggernaut rework, and villain would be chosen as who got the last kill from enemy team and what it did was the villain would get full damage from garen R, which is bc its true damage amount to nearly half your hp, it mainly stopped carries to going side lanes alone and they would have to be extra careful in teamfights, but altough some complained about it, people didnt really care because at the time we had :
overpowered darius with basically sure hit q and e and passive + base damage made him not need to build any ad so a full tank character actins as full fighter at all times
mordekaiser adc that will outscale, outlevel, outtank, outdamage you and has a dragon pet
so yeah it flew under the radar until later and the mechanic got removed

The Villain mechanic was so terrible to play around that for a long time the highest rated Garen player in the west played him midlane with Sorc shoes just to have any agency at all.

The villian mechanic also worked on those that secrued a kill within the last 5 minutes.
Meaning a support taking one marks then a villian until another kill fell into someone's hands.

He seems to forget also that when someone was the villain his spin did what I believe was 1% max hp of true damage per tick as well, so it wasn't just the ult that was amped, but he would tear through *everyone*

The real annoying thing to it was that it also made Garen splitting really really impossible to deal with because if you sent your top to stop him (Or whoever really) and they succeed, next time they won't because Villain.

The villain mechanic had to be tweaked since on the very first patch it was implemented, it would focus the player with the highest gold lead or streak, so you could be literally punished just for farming well against Garen, so it was changed to only kill streaks, but it still was unfair to get a debuff just for being ahead and playing well.
