I was in IT for 7 years, I came to hate it. It got to the point where I got a headache from just looking at a computer screen and at times I would feel nauseated. I remember walking into a server closet one day and getting an instant headache then walking out and the headache subsided. I felt like the servers and switches were giving off an electromagnetic wave that affecting me badly. I couldn’t take any certifications because I was always so tired after work and had zero interest in computers beryond my job so didn’t get Cisco ceriticates or server certificates. I was fired from my last IT job because all i did was sit there and converse with my coworker. I was tired of being a do boy and wanted out. I would definitely say IT especially anyone below network architect engineer or admin or security admin is tedious, boring, unrewarding burnout job. And even at the higher levels it is a dead end considering inflation where 100k if they will even pay you that, is not what it used to be. If you want to get paid over 80k they want you to be a genius at every system. I am so glad I am no longer in IT
