How to Connect All Your Music Gear Using USB: No Mixer or Interface Needed!

For my recent endeavors I've been really loving the convenience of USB Audio. Today I'll show you how to set up an Aggregate Device so you can do the same, as well as work through some troubleshooting that you may run into in the process.

Nice video. Another downside I found of this method is the latency is usually way higher sometimes unusable with aggregate devices even over usb 3. I’m used to my RME interface with super low latency so that’s a downside. Upside is you get better sound quality as you skip a whole stage or digital to analog conversion and a stage of analog to digital conversion.

Thank you for this. I am inspired and going to dig out my USB hubs and see if this will work with a Fantom 7, a Juno-X, a TR-8S, and an SP-404 MKII all at once! I've been using a 4-channel stereo audio mixer into a Komplete Audio 6. If it can all go USB into the Mac that will be awesome. I always wondered what the heck an aggregate audio device was anyway.

I am trying to find a good usb C-type cable with right angled connectors for my Novation Launchpad but have been unable to find a good one yet.

watch out using hubs with NI keyboards. it can mess up komplete kontrol and the ableton remote script. try using your NI mk3 and see if it works with this setup. mk2 had a warning not to use a hub

How does a device with multiple outputs work here? I'm looking at the tx6 or other audio interfaces. I would expect them to show up only as one stereo input, which would defeat the purpose of an interface.
