What is psycho-onology? UniSA is helping cancer survivors once medical treatment stops

Показать описание
What happens to cancer patients once they reach remission? For some, physical and emotional side effects persist long after treatment. The fear of cancer recurrence is especially prevalent, while memory and attention problems can also occur. These issues are a key focus of Associate Professor Amanda Hutchinson, a clinical psychologist at UniSA’s Behaviour-Brain-Body Research Centre. Assoc Prof Hutchinson and her team conduct work in psycho-oncology, the intersection of clinical psychology and cancer care. Their research aims to improve the quality of life for people affected by cancer.
