Jaco...what to say that hasn't already been said. He changed the game forever.
I know, I know - using a Pbass to play Jaco is blasphemy - I leant my Jbass to a friend for a while! Don't hate. Enjoy :)

One of the grooviest grooves ever grooved.

While Jaco was a power house and totally changed the game for electric bass, I think the style that his playing on this funky song absolute shows inspiration from Rocco's style of funk bass. Absolutely awesome cover btw :)

Nice one!
I used to play a lot from 18-22 but haven't really played at all in the last 18 years. Just getting back into it. I've been practising off this vid for a couple of hours and can play it all at about 80-90% speed now (95bpm). Love the transition from chorus back into verse - grinning from ear to ear! Can't wait to get it all up to speed (110bpm).
Thank you!

Ben these videos are awesome. I used this to teach a student and ended up correcting a bunch of notes I've played wrong for years so thanks!

When I start to think I'm decent at bass I just look up jaco playing and get a quick piece of humble pie

Remember learning that song myself a few years ago and it was my first one from Jaco. At the beginning, I was like „this sounds basically like a beginner trying his first groove“.. holy shit was I wrong

Good job Benny. I think you'll appreciate this true story. In 2978 I started playing pro in Ft. Lauderdale FL in a C&W band. I met our drummer a singer/songwriter named Bobby Herzog. He asked me if I was familiar with Jaco Pastorious. Of course I said yes. He went on to tell me how he grew up playing with Jaco and that Jaco called him one day to bring some r&b tunes to the studio for his solo album. " Come on Come Over " was one of the tunes. Bobby went on to tell me the whole story about all the details. He was a cool guy and really a reggae singer. I've got many such stories. Some times I think after 45 years that's all I have but it's cool. If I can share and inspire other people to play it's worth it. Thanks for the video!

Sounds great! And I appreciate the notation in addition to tabs; I guess I'm old-fashioned in preferring to read that :)
