My favourite Grohl story was when he met Elvis, as an 8 year old boy at one of his last concerts, and he was sitting front row with his mother, Elvis dropped his hanky and Grohl picked it up, and Elvis said ‘thank you very much’

For me it was Metallica. I'm only a few years younger than Dave and thanks to my older brothers I grew up listening to an eclectic mix of rock, pop & other genres of music like jazz.
When I got into my teens, Metallica was the blueprint, like the Beatles: four guys who played their own instruments and were in charge of their own thing—they wanted to conquer the world without compromising their music if possible.
When Metallica hit it big it was validating for millions of fans of theirs—and music fans overall—worldwide. Then the Napster thing happened, haha…
They've done a pretty good job of keeping it real over the years and acknowledging when they've gone wrong. That's one of the secrets to longevity in the music business.
