Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

By complete and total happenstance, I met and spoke with Robert Plant while he was shopping in Columbus, Ohio during his solo career. Nicest guy in the industry. After He kindly gave me his autograph, he handed the pen back and propped his arm upon a shelf of the store we were in - truly interested in what I was saying to him. The entire time, The complete catalog of Led Zeppelin music was pouring through my head. I'll never forget that day and his genuine kindness. Wow... what a band.

This band didn't make a bad album. It's hard to believe they were once ridiculed by Rolling Stone and others. This is a fabulous song and the reason why they're widely considered the best and most influential hard rock/hard rock blues band of all time

this is truly my favorite led zeppelin song. There is something on it that I couldn't explain...maybe the orchestra, maybe the lyrics, maybe the guitar's riff, I really don't know, but it is weirdly incredible...

This song really demonstrates just how much influence Led Zeppelin had on Chris Cornell. I love how artistic brilliance gets passed around and remolded like that. As an 80's kid I grew up on Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog and had no idea where such brilliance and beauty came from. Now I do and the lineage itself is its own thing of beauty.

One of their best albums to listen to on an audiophile system, especially fond of Gallows from the last remaster (the bass). Friends is one of their sadly hidden gems. Will be listened to a hundred years from now, for sure.

Sad thing is that if you got to know Led Zeppelin, there is NOT much music that will be better than this. I started to listen to them as a kid and 20 years after I cannot point many musicians that would be close to their level.
