I met this guy last week - very cool guy! My brother's band opened for the Last in Line in Roseville, CA. I hung around and afterwards was talking to him for a while. What a coo guy and a great drummer. Rock on!

Vinny and carmine came from my neighborhood. Them and John Bonham made me pursue a career in music 🥁

I finally saw him live with Last In Line a couple of years ago in a small club. Sounded amazing. I like the audience participation bit!!

My dad was a jazz drummer and told a story about having to use his stick to ward off a drunk who was getting aggressive at a gig. I guess the place was crowded and people were up close and the guy was smacking cymbals with his hands. He got a no no face, a shake of the head No, and then a well placed stick to his hand the third time, and of course without breaking the beat.
I was just reminded of that, watching his control of both the amount of power, and speed applied to get different effects. He could swat a fly off the top of your head.

Some guys are good at solo's and some guys are good at grooves. Vinny is good at grooves.

I have always loved Vinnie's playing. I appreciate the fellow who was thoughtful enough to capture video. Perhaps it is just my druthers, but I wished we could be hearing sound imported from the board into the camera, instead of the camera's direct mic. That's all.

Loudest drummer we ever hosted for a drum clinic. Kit was miked and we eventually had to just turn them off. I should’ve known when I watched him remove several of the links on the kick pedal so the beater would be back further from the head so he could kick it harder. Great guy and he did a good clinic. Very educational for beginners and intermediates. We hosted his brother Carmine as well. His clinic was very educational. In fact, he stayed an extra day and did a master class for the pros.

I have the same size drums from DW. I feel like this particular setup is harder to play "fast" and powerful on the toms (lesser rebound at that size + tuning vs a smaller jazzy kit), but he pulls right through it!

what was that move he does at 1:05, where he licks his fingers, and then takes the stick, and runs it along the rim, altering the resonance pitch of the drum?? That was fucking cool!!!!

I don't know the circumstances here but I bet if Vinny would raise that seat some, he'd be better. It's like he has no room to flow.

Obviously using somebody else's kit

Kind of noisy and sweaty and finally ... dull. Poor guy. Will never amount to much.

He's got some chops, but he's not very eloquent. I never could understand his reputation as one of rock's top drummers. More skill than talent. Completely forgettable.
