I'm the opposite. Zinc calms my skin down. I turn irritated with anything else. So the lesson is...don't listen to others and pay attention what works for YOU.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I hate mineral sunscreen, they always dries me out like crazy which lead lead to irritation and breakouts. I will stick to chemical sunscreen and synthetic filters thank you very much.

I love mineral sunscreens! That being said, I'm super pale and only use Korean and Japanese mineral sunscreens, preferably the stick ones or the "sun milk" or "water cream".

Mineral sunscreens always dry me out. No-go. Your explanation about rubbing physical particles around your skin also makes so much sense.

Sorry for your redness. I'm still sticking to mineral sunblocks because chemical sunscreens dry me out crazy and worsen skin irritation, not good for my eczema.

I can't tolerate zinc oxide either. It makes my skin red and itchy too.

Zinc can be really drying, however, I don’t think you’re supposed to rub it in hard or rub, just apply a layer and pat gently. I use the dark tint zinc so it doesn’t leave a cast.

I'm highly allergic to chemical sunscreen and ruined my skin more than any other skincare I have ever used. So I appreciate a good mineral sunscreen.

Thanks for the video. Never before did I hear anyone talking about this aspect of mineral. sunscreen. People always connect mineral sunscreens to being a better option. Few years back I had a similar condition after using 25% zinc oxide sunscreen manufactured by a renowned pharmaceutical brand in India. Back then, couldn’t understand the reason behind the reaction. Your video helped me understand the logic. So thanks again.

What brand was this? Look at the uv filters “boosters” it’s possible there are “hidden” chemical filters

I’m sorry to hear this from u, what doesn’t work for you could for others, it’s best knowing what really irritates ur skin and avoid it. I’ve always request for a sample before getting the full size and if my skin doesn’t agreed, at least I won’t be wasting any money

I am sorry that this happened. I can relate and it is awful! Thank you for sharing this. I just bought my first chemical sunscreen (skin1004). I have ridiculously sensitive skin and always believed that I could only use mineral sunscreen. Hoping I can tolerate chemical sunscreen. 😘

Keep note, not all "all zinc" sunscreens are true mineral sunscreen because there are ingredients that share appearance and function to chemical sunscreen, but for a lot of reasons, aren't listed as active ingredients. Yet another reason why people should find a sunscreen that works for them that they'll be compelled to reapply, instead of fear mongering ingredients because you can't predict how an ingredient will behave to skin based solely on the ingredient list.

I agree! Also lets not forget the hard work to take off the physical sunscreen with water ti reapply the sunscreen later in the day. Its so hard to take it off without the cleanser. Its just frustrating 😭

I spent almost a YEAR stressing over THAT claim "it has to be Zinc only, it had to be SPF 50 only, it has to be free of alcohol and God forbid.. Fragrance"
Come oooon you Person.. Have a break.. Not all people's skin biology is the same!!!!
