How does Drinking Alcohol Affect Anti-Depressants? Part 1

Mixed alcohol and antidepressants only once. I was able to drink more and remember shit I should have forgotten. Never again… except on holidays… and maybe weekends… of course sometimes at work we have after work few drinks and you can't just say no… so…

I can drink on Zoloft without any adverse side-effects. I take 50 mg and I weigh 69k. However, this is a poor decision. Alcohol doesn't help any of the problems that you try to fix via Setraline. If I drink enough to get hungover my panic/anxiety goes through the roof the next day. Like they always say, if you have to, drink in moderation.

I wait until like a few hours or more after taking antidepressants. I always set my limit and I never had any problems.

I've always had a question about these tablets. I was a heavy drinker throughout my 20's and 30's but never drank in the day and always kept myself in fit condition for work. A month or two after taking these I started getting a craving for alcohol all the time. I was drinking in the morning, in the day in the work van, and drank at night usually collapsing before 9. My behavior was weird, people dragged me into the doctors because they thought I'd had a breakdown.
Anyway the hospital sobered me up and I quit drinking, it's 11 years now but I always wonder was it alcoholism or those pills?. Because this behaviour and accelerated drinking only started a while after I started taking them.

Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant so it's ironic to me that clients don't easily realize that it makes no sense to treat with an anti depressant and then add to the depressive like symptoms by drinking alcohol.
