How do you find the interquartile range of an even set of data, as in a set with an even number of data points? What is the interquartile range? In this video we go over an example of finding the interquartile range (IQR) with an even set of data, or inter-quartile range if you prefer it hyphenated. Let me know if you would like more statistics lessons, interquartile range examples, or anything else! Stats for life.

I just have to say thank you for making this video, it's been incredibly helpful for me and has clarified the difference between an odd and even data set when it comes to the median. My school is so shitty that they leave these things out of the learning material which is really frustrating. Anyway, thank you so much!!!

My only concern is why does solving an even set differs? There are three methods that I've seen and they have different answers. So, which of thosee are correct?

I remember my teacher saying something like “always round up” when we were going through this. What could he have meant by this?

He's correct but didn't complete the process by dividing by 2. I.e IQR = (Q3 - Q1)/2

This is incorrect. After you add the median numbers and divide by 2 you then have to divide that sum by 2 as well. So your real answer is 8.5
