Commuting to work got stopped by the police after they ran my plate and found out a woman owns the bike and she doesn't have a license!

Dutch person here was driving at night and forgot to turn on my lights for some reason. Cop drove by and instead instead of pulling over he typed in his back screen: gozer doe je lichten aan translates to bro, turn on your lights. They're chill

Dutch police are really nice. They often include a lot of humor when they pull you over😅

Dutch police are really chill.
I was once firing my potato cannon on open water, which someone didn't like apparently, so they called the cops.
They showed up and wanted to see how it worked, so there they were firing my potato cannon before they told me to go somewhere else.

The Dutch cops are pretty cool. So far I’ve only had positive interactions with the cops. They even complimented me on my ‘82 Fiesta. I’d love to become one of them one day and be just as cool to people

Overall, especially compared to other countries, the Dutch police are quite chill. You (probably) know you've done something wrong. You're (probably) already full of adrenaline. No need to be harsh. A good conversation, where you're reflected to your own actions, usually works so much better.

And that, my dear American fellows, is how European police tend to interact with people. No aggressive energy, no hands on pistol butts, no "respect mah authoritah" loud-and-clear speaking, just chill and friendly communication.
That's what proper training gives you.

Dutch police: If you are nice and respectful, they will be nice and respectful. 😂 a lot of people in the netherlands "hate" our police force .... they have no clue how good they have it here.

The police in the Netherlands get a long education with a lot of lessons in de-escalation and how people might react. Have a talk, find out how the person interacts. On that basis they are there to help, not to punish if not needed.

when we were going through our worst day ever, the police was there to help us stay calm, they took control of the situation without being disrespectful, our best friend and housemate was being airlifted to the hospital after suffering a catastrophic seizure, I was in the house panicking as he was getting CPR in the hallway, this officer stayed with me to help me keep calm whilst my partner was outside taking stock of the situation with some more officers and the medical team, we don't own a car and couldn't follow him to the hospital on our own accord so the officer got permission to give us a ride there with lights on. I have never gotten to Amsterdam that fast. But that officer is a hero to me, even if things ended on a sad note with our housemate passing away.... he gave his all to help us and that's how I view the dutch police, truly kind, wanting to protect and serve as the police should, we actually went back to the station to give our thanks for all the help, the officer in question wasn't there but we asked the receptionist to pass the message and she made sure he'd receive the thanks for everything.

New Zealander living in the Netherlands. I think also that the Dutch are a very calm and pragmatic people in general, so maybe the police don't have to go into every interaction expecting aggression or anger. I'm so impressed with this country

Dutch police are cool! I remember the first time I got in contact with them. I was driving to my dad's wedding, and I left right before them, so I'd be there when they arrive... and I got redirected by police for a standard documentation check 😅 I asked if they could be quick, since I was on my way to a wedding 😅 and they were like: daaang! Congratulations! Come on, off you go! 🤭
I even offered to come back after the ceremony, or stop at the police station, but they told me to just go, have fun and eat some good cake on their behalf 😊❤ Shout out to the police department in Veldhoven! ❤
