I'm mildly ashamed that I noticed, but quick fact correction - when you went over canon at the start, you mentioned lily doing dark magic to protect harry. That's fanon - Rowling really went the 'true love' route. In canon, it's the strength of her love when she sacrifices herself. Widely in fanon, people called bs and went the 'given we know she was 'the smartest witch of her age' she probably laid some ritual magic to make sure her son survived' route. Just a small thing.

So interesting to hear that the stereotype for Remus is that he is the least academic. I was never deep in the Marauders fandom, but I read the occasional Wolfstar and I remember (in my tumblr prehistory of 2011–2012) the dynamic being that Remus was the academic of the group and that although James and Sirius were very smart, they didn't care as much about grades. How times change. Or my brain rot is further gone than I thought and I am misremembering.
