Baby Seal ‘Listens’ To Rescuers

The rescuer tells the little seal pup to "stay away from this" and "go, tell your friends". If only it was so easy! Unfortunately, there is no possibility to warn seals of the looming dangers in every part of the world oceans. Especially ghost fishing gear has been seen everywhere, some of it already decades old, but still strong enough to kill. Most ghost fishing gear is invisible, other plastic rubbish is bright and colourful and perfect to play with, especially for young and curious seal pups. Maybe our little 'lesson' will protect this little guy from future entanglement, but we are not very hopeful.

It's heartbreaking, realizing that some of the seal pups in this video won't reach adulthood, because they'll get entangled in items made and eventually discarded by us humans. Reduce, reuse, recycle!🙏♻️

That pupper was a bold one. A bit growly but very relaxed and calm. It's almost as if he or she knew the team meant no harm.
