There's actually a happy ending to the Hardcore Series 1 hard drive failure. He got the hard drive fixed a year or two ago, and looked at the original world on stream. It's in his YT channel too, the vid "Exploring my old Minecraft World Saves" I think.

This is so incredible. Most DSMP content is DSMP focused but Phil has such a unique background.

Also, thanks to fans, he could make an addon for his home to support his ill family (if you want to know more I'd suggest seeing his view, not react worthy but still important for context). He could afford to get a citizenship for his now wife. He could afford to marry Mumza. He could have the money to save his life, his family's lives, and his relationship. Fan support helped him move out of a paycheck to paycheck life to where he could help those he loved and be able to provide support. Fans gave him the money and he used the money to make friends and family financially stable.

i think the thing about phil's story that gets me so much is that he literally would not have met his wife if it weren't for minecraft. if he wasn't streaming it when kristen was learning how to play the game they would have never came across each other. like that's fate and no one can tell me otherwise. it's so damn beautiful

I didn't know about Philza or his story for a long while, mainly because I learned english around two or three years ago.

But he has grown to be one of my favorite creators of all time. I can't even explain why honestly. When I tell people why I like Tommy, it feels so easy. When I tell them why I like your channel it's easy. But when I need to describe why I like Phil, it's like- He is such a force of good, like a rock in the river. When I watch his streams, everything feels just so good and calm for a moment, like there's nothing I need to think about. Regardless what happens, be it his DSMP Lore or a funny moment with his friends, it feels like it's all so genuine and honest. And the community seems to agree with me. I think I haven't seen a single person that didn't grow to adore Dadza and his personality.
Generally the community around his channel and streams is so nice and so cool, we can all just have a good time without arguing. Of course there a bad people like in every community, but they get drowned out by all the amazing people that you can meet in comments, on reddit and discord, even on minecraft servers that don't have anything to do with him.

TLDR: Philza is an amazing content creator that manages to be a constant force of good in many peoples lives and stands in the middle of a community that can't be described as anything but amazing. I'm glad that I heard about Dream, because that was what spiraled me into watching Dream SMP and seeing all these amazing creators doing what they love.

to be fair phil did not swim n the monuments in season 2, as there was no swimming mechanic in the game before 1.13? i believe! He ran through it!
Also another note to add that show the insanity of phil, he built sky city w/o elytra! When he finally got elytra the meta to fly was shoot urself w/ a punch 2 bow! Immagine that in hardcore, working in the sky no elytra and then only flying by shooting urself!

i'd definitely recommend watching his video he made of touring around his first minecraft worlds after he recovered his lost hard drive. it contains his very first minecraft world EVER, a server he made with his friends, as well as, of course, the hardcore world he lost! i think you'd enjoy the video a lot!
