My daughter wants to major in cosmetic chemistry. She is thinking about going to the university of Toledo but we live near some manufacturing companies (ie walmart corp office). Me too!! A cosmetic chemist, since 1985. I thought I was going to be an optometrist. I ended up in Chicago, Luster Products was my introduction to the Personal Care Industry. Now in Southern California, and it is a Great career.

Thank you much!!! I majored in chemistry right after graduating high school back in 1986. I had an opportunity to intern during a very critical time as I pursued my degree. But in my junior year, a single decision changed the course of my life and I abandoned my chemistry degree. I transferred universities, changed my major and earned a degree in fashion design. After marriage, moving to NY to work in the fashion industry, divorce and moving back to Louisiana, I landed in banking for 13 years. Due to a recent re-org, I was let go from my job in banking on June 2, 2020 and I’ve been praying about my next move. Way back when, I didn’t know cosmetic chemistry was an option. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized I could have had a career that fed my love for science AND my creative side. Just moments ago, I prayed to God about my next move. There is so much for me to consider at 52 years old. Then I came across your video and I got excited!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful information. I plan to do some exploring. This is the type of video I need! Just graduated with a BS in chemical engineering, but all my life I have been interested in cosmetics and chemistry. Now that I had some time to reflect, it made me incredibly interested to go into cosmetic science but wasn't sure how to find a job in that field. This video provided so many helpful tips!
