Sarah Hyland SLAMS Anorexia Accusations & Addresses Health Issues

Sarah Hyland has responded after being accused of promoting anorexia because of photos she shared on Instagram.

Sarah Hyland posted a photo to Instagram of her wearing her boyfriend’s clothing line and shared in the caption that a portion of the proceeds go to the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

After that she received an influx of comments regarding her weight with some people saying “eat a burger” and others commenting about her head being bigger than her body.

In response, Sarah took to twitter to explain her weight loss resulting from health issues that have left her bedridden. And how she’s taking a medication called prednisone that may be contributing.

QUOTE, “I’ve basically been on bed rest for the past few months, I’ve lost a lot of muscle mass.”

“I write this because I’ve been accused of promoting anorexia in, ironically enough, an anti-bullying post. And I want young girls to know that that’s NOT my intention.”

She’s keeping private about exactly what’s going on for the time being saying QUOTE, “Maybe one day I’ll talk about it but for now, I’d like my privacy.”

In 2012 she underwent a kidney transplant after battling kidney dysplasia and was unable to attend the SAG awards this past January due to health reasons.

But she urges her fans not to be too concerned. QUOTE “There's no need to worry. I've been down before and I'll probably be down again in my lifetime but I'm steadfast and solid and will conquer my obstacles."

So guys you never know exactly what someone is going through from just a photo! And we at Clevver hope Sarah is on the road to feeling like herself again!

for anyone wondering, prednisone is a drug used to treat auto-immune diseases, and also to prevent your body from rejecting an organ after a transplant, which is likely why Sarah has been taking it. (at least that's what I think) I've taken it myself after transplanting my pulmonary artery. Although it can cause weight gain because it can increase your appetite, in my experience it causes weight loss because, to be brutally honest, it makes you lose water weight and gives you diarrhoea. So if you combine being sick, which makes you eat less with a drug that increases your appetite, you may end up eating normally. And if you then, because you're sick, stay inactive, your muscles will likely get smaller, and if you on top of that lose water weight and you were petite to begin with then yeah, you might look a bit too skinny. It happens. ACCUSING SOMEONE OF BEING MENTALLY ILL, THEREBY FORCING THEM TO TELL YOU ABOUT THEIR ACTUAL HEALT SITUATION BECAUSE THEY FEEL A NEED TO DEFEND THEMSELVES IS FUCKED UP. Anyone who made a comment like that should be ashamed.

body shaming towards tiny/skinny people is so real! Telling someone who is small to "eat a burger" is not only rude but also disrespectful and completely inappropriate, you would not tell someone who is overweight to take diet pills, would you? Think about others feelings before you speak! It's called a metabolism
and some people just can't help being small!

I'm a little confused(NOT saying she's anorexic) bc prednisone causes weight GAIN not weight loss. I have taken prednisone multiple times and I always gain 10-15 pounds and the doctors say this is completely normal and expected.

For the record to those who don't know: She is a kidney transplant. I myself am a kidney transplant too, and I find it horrible that people commented so much on her picture about her weight that she had to go out and talk about her health, when she probably didn't want to. Due to medication when you are a transplant, you can suffer from a crap load of problems. From prednisone you especially often suffer from weight problems, and a moon face. If you don't know what a moon face is, it's when you face swallow up and make it larger and rounder. To shame someone who is dealing with a chronic disease (and yes, even though you are a kidney transplant you still are chronic sick) because of their weight is beyond disgusting. Actually, body shaming anyone is disgusting.

Look. I am also super skinny. I can't do anything about it. It's not a health thing, I just can't gain weight like average people do. I already know that I'm skinny. People don't have to point it out. I already hate my appearance and other people's comments are just making it worse. So, before you want to comment on someone else's weight, remember that your words can make permanent damage.
