A Designer's Enchanting Château in the Eastern Townships of Québec

Interior Designer Scott Yetman gives us a tour of his enchanting French country home named Fox Hill. Step into a rotunda entrance with 22-foot-high ceilings, black and white checkerboard floors and an ethereal mural that soars to the ceiling. Antique doors lead into the great room, where a dining room and living room overlook the beautiful Lac-Brome. Scott’s signature black and white palette can be seen throughout, such as in the moody bar area and expansive cook’s kitchen that features a walk-in fridge, charcoal BBQ, and two types of ovens. The laundry room gets a dose of color with yellow wallpaper designed by Kit Kemp in London.

WOW I love the modern take on the chateau. So happy to see a house that was so well built being loved and updated. So often now, we tear down and build new ... "disposable architecture" . The original owner had it well built and Scott saw the quality and had the vision to make it his own... Bravo!

It's never my business if a new owner absoulutely guts a house. But the story is more enjoyable when they can find respect for what's there, and make it theirs without major alterations. They always seem to love it more too. This seems to be that case. Boland's door, the pineapple, black stairs, and green carpet--the bomb!

I SCREAMED at the cloakroom... the orange boxes + slow reveal of "Auntie Betty" just killed me. Love the thoughtful touches in the original architecture of the lined silver storage cabinet, drawer for flower arrangements, and fox details throughout. Beautiful Canadian art.

I don’t know why, but I feel like this person showing the house would make a wonderful best friend or close friend.
