My kids were given a Payday board game and needed help figuring out how the deals and "found a buyer" spaces worked. I told them that the deals are when they are the Bearded Thrift Machine buying something at a yard sale, investing in a deal going someone else will pay them more for the item than what they paid for the item. Found a buyer is when you make the sale. The explanation worked! Thought you'd like to know. 😊

Ealier this year, I purchased an elderly ladie’s entire Dept 56 Christmas village and accessories. She was asking $500. There were over 70 houses and 50-60 accessories. All were in pristine condition! I had to drive 6 hours to get them but was well worth the drive! I have sold about 100 items already. On a side note - I have found that the Lemax brand of villages are very prone to breakage!

That lady was pretty smart to have her yard sale right before Halloween. To me, I can't really comprehend accumulating that many decorative items for Halloween. As she said, you run out of energy to deal with All Those THINGS. But, HAVE FUN with them and I hope they all get new homes with folks who enjoy them.

Right after the pandemic happened, I went to a garage sale where this guy was trying to move his mom to Sacramento from the Bay Area. It was an hour before closing time on the last day and there were over 300 hundred big and small pieces of Dept. 56 in original boxes all in pristine condition. His dad collected them and he did not want to haul them back in the house anymore. I did not know what they were at the time and so I was looking up just the big pieces and was finding they were reselling for good money. I had set aside about 4 boxes when he approached me and asked if I collected them, I said no and that I was a reseller. I asked them how much they were and his mom said $5 each. He then turned to me and said, “How about $55 for everything but you take them all now.” I asked my husband if we can take them all since we don’t have space in our apartment and he said sure let’s take our chances. We ended up taking two trips to get them all home but it was all worth it since we made bank. I’ll never forget that and yes the Halloween pieces are some of the best ones to sell. Great haul you got there and thanks for reminding me again of mine.

Man, what a score on all those electrical tools. Wow. I've never seen that much fluke in one tote. That T handle device is a large cable stripper. So much money in that tote, $1000 at least. Greenlee is another awesome brand,
