I just now played this song for the first time since I was three years old (i.e., 40 years ago). I played it for my 13 year old daughter tonight. I have spent the last several decades boycotting anything & everything Michael Jackson, refusing to listen to his music whenever it came on over the radio. Tonight, this song took me back to 1983. Back then, I was a HUGE fan of Hall & Oates, Pat Benatar, Quarterflash, Tina Turner, Foreigner...and I'm not gonna lie to you today, Jackson's "Beat It" was a real banger. I feel bad for all the Jackson children and all that they suffered at the hands of their father. No child or set of siblings should ever have to endure family torturing..
