Naming Day is one of the funniest parts of the lore to explain to people because it basically became non-canon immediately after being created. The OG names and terminology are never referenced in the Metru Nui saga and Lego basically gaslit kids into accepting they were always called Matoran.

I'm still of the opinion that, since the Toa left the exo-toa suits in the Bohrok tunnels because they didn't allow them to use their elemental powers, and they no longer had their elemental powers to begin with; the conflict should have been resolved with those suits instead of like, three deus-ex machinas in a row.

My favorite bit of this part of the Bionicle story is that Bohrok Kal were never really released in Australia - I think they were K-Mart exclusives and sold out quickly in a first wave - so for many Australian Bionicle fans, this arc of the story never actually existed. The story for many of us was Bohrok, Toa turned into Nuva and then the Rahkshi showed up. No weird recolours of the Bohrok as villains, no collecting masks again, etc.
