Why Apple is Selling a Polishing Cloth for $19 | The Apple Accessory You Never Knew You Wanted

Remember the good ol' days when apple would bundle in a TON of extra goodies in the box? Those days are long gone now as it seems the current Apple unboxing experience, at least in 2022 is kinda lackluster...

Have you stopped to notice this is due in part because Apple NOW excludes basic accessories and now sells them to you separately. Think about when the 20W adapter became absent but was promoted more heavily as a separate $20 purchase.

Apple recently released their polishing cloth for $19... a much thicker alternative with apple branding.

It's a good thing my Dad is an optometrist, I just get lens cloths from him all the time for my glasses and I have a few I've dedicated solely to cleaning my electronic screens.

I had the iPod Nano (4th gen), iPod Touch (4th gen), iPhone 5, iPhone X S Max (returned to  after a hiatus to try out Android), & the 11 Pro Max which came with way more accessories in the box. My 13 Pro Max came with the least amount of accessories in the box

I got one because my Macbook Pro 16 inch cost almost 3k and I didn't want to risk micro scratches or hurting thr coating on such an expensive device with a cheap microfiber cloth. It gives me peace of mind. It definitely feels way softer than any microfiber cloth in the market and that definitely indicates you're less at risk of micro scratches or abrasions. I only it makes sense if you're investing in any of the XDR Macs or Macbook Pros as repairing those screens would cost a fortune and what is 19 bucks when you've already spent 3k? But I do think they should be included with your higher end 14 and 16 inch Macbooks, it would help further set them apart from the consumer Macbooks and add to the professional grade in these Macbooks

Their reasoning for it makes sense. If you're into the Apple ecosystem and you're upgrading, you don't always need to have the extras everytime, and it gives consumers some choice (eg. wired earphones vs AirPods, which Apple WANTS people to get) and stops a lot of stuff going to waste.

I do agree with you that we should get more accessories again especially considering the price on the products. A charging brick should be essential at the very least imo.

I miss the cube shaped boxes filled with I don't know what in the early 2000s. Had an iPod 2G back in the days and oh boy was that box filled.

actually I find that it cleans my Mac display much better than anything you can get at the sunglass store. It does get hella dirty though so I'm not sure I'll be buying a new one

I got mine back in December 2021. I ordered it in October 2021. I’m currently pissed because I’ve seemingly lost it probably 2 days ago.

I purchased a Stainless Steel S2 for the Link Bracelet and it had/has a polishing cloth with it. I purchased this polishing cloth and use it before taking photos of my Apple Watch. I think it works pretty good & would buy it again (and I might ;-}

Never saw the compatibility list, I better check it 😂.
