Jury recommends Parkland school shooter get life in prison without parole

A Florida jury recommended that Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz serve life in prison without parole, sparing him a possible death sentence. As a father I can understand the desire of the dead students’ parents for the shooter to receive the death penalty. On the other hand, for a young convict, I think life in prison may be worse than lethal injection. It’s a tough call. But you must have faith in the jury system. It’s the most fair system yet devised.

What a terrible crime . . . But how in the world did a person with his troubled background get a hold of such dangerous weapons? Others in our society, like the people who sold him the guns, bear a lot of the blame for what happened.

He deserved the DP but considering the history of DP which is not immediate and cost millions of tax payers dollars this is then enough. He should have been sentenced already. The victims impact statements will not change anything.
