The Windlass Test or Windlass Mechanism can give an indication for plantar fasciitis or hallux rigidous as insufficient dorsal extension of the big toe impedes proper foot biomechanics.

I have tightness and discomfort stretching the plantar fascia in the arch but I don’t have any increased pain in the morning/after periods of inactivity. I first felt this tightness doing a plank but had to stop the plank as my foot was in agony.
