Are you sure I can't keep blaming my mommy?

Bold of you to assume I have 10 friends

Do ten people even know me enough to evaluate me?

I think it's also important to mention that the more emotionally unhealthy/unstable a person is, the harder it becomes to accurately type that person. Because all kinds of strange loops/function suppression can be going on in a person that is not psychologically stable. And I think some good measures of mental stability of a person are things like how do you relate socially to the people around you, do you take responsibility for your life, are you contributing to society, any signs of major depression/anxiety etc.

What if you're the kind of person that doesn't reveal a lot of themselves to most of the people in their life?

I don't have 10 friends that are willing to do this or have something resembling a brain. What now?

Good points.

Another thing that can be helpful is "seeing yourself outside of yourself." This is meta-self reflection, where instead of looking inward to build more self-awareness you actually look outward.

One example of meta self-reflection is writing in a daily journal. Write in a daily journal for a while, then look over what you wrote from the month before. You will be amazed as to what things were top of mind for you in the past.

Another example of meta self-reflection is video or audio journaling. Same premise as daily journal writing but you can do it in video or audio format. This can also be a great self-management tool if you share these r recordings with a best friend or a counselor, as they can help you worth through the mental blocks in your mind, when you are sharing openly and honestly. I did this with my best friend for a while; very helpful when going through tough times.

My cycle: research on your own -> feel like it's wrong -> think more -> ask others -> they tell me -> i say ok -> i start doubting them "tf they know me better than myself" (pathetic ego) -> back into the who tf am i loop

"Get Observations From Your Peers" That's like... kinda impossible. Last time I try to squeeze out of my friends, probably they think I'm sensitive or they just don't want to say it to my face. I don't really hear much about myself from my friends lmao

As an Intj, I did all of this myself naturally lol. Ppl don't realize how hard it is to minimize lying to yourself.

Jung didn't say other people have to tell you your type. He said the opposite, because only you yourself know how your consciousness is oriented. MBTI practicioners don't tell you your type. They help you figure it out. Which is sorta kinda what you're advocating, except you charge by the month instead of the hour.

I really appreciate the realness in your videos.

I love the idea of this, but I think there's the issue that just because a perspective of who you are is coming from outside yourself doesn't necessarily mean it's objective.

The thing is no friends cares enough to observe that detailed information about you. And as an introvert (or whatever I am), I keep EVERYTHING to myself. My needs and fears, my goals and ambition, my hurdles and worries. My friends don’t know sht about me. The only one whom I could trust is only my partner who observes my day to day, objectively. I don’t need friends to do this. I could see myself objectively just fine, I’m not afraid to contradict myself and challenge my beliefs to find the truth. Perhaps this is what many people couldn’t do.

This is not that complicated as you say it is. Most people can hone in on their type pretty accurately over time. Maybe they wont get it just right from the first or second time, but they're generally going to be in the vicinity of their type if they are honest with them selves. And people who are truly interested in this stuff are generally honest with them selves.

Your type is defined by every other type, it exists as a result of not being the other 15. Get to know them ALL, don't just bounce around the types you think you are most likely to be.

This is awesome and SO TRUE!
I did the test, got my type, lived with that for a while, but as I sat with it things just didn’t quite add and I have been taking the scientific approach ever since.
It is the most gut wrenching process I have ever embarked on, brutality at its core but strangely healing, centring and comforting at the same so I know it’s true which makes me want to continue.
I thank MTBI for giving me the foot in the door that I needed. MTBI made me think I was a certain the fact that the test got it wrong was the catalyst that has got me to finding out who I really am.

"spend months figuring this out, ask your friends and look at past problems"

I have little time to be doing this, have literally 0 friends and my memory is terrible
