Attorney Tom Grieve is a former state criminal prosecutor from Wisconsin before eventually founding what is now the state's largest criminal defense firm at more than 20 attorneys. In 2019 the firm expanded into family law and added a dedicated team of professionals to further serve clients with similar aggressive and proven strategies.

Beyond the courtroom, Tom has been interviewed and appeared in numerous media outlets, ranging from the New York Times, CourtTV, Fox News, Reuters, Washington Post, National Public Radio, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, among many others. He is a frequent Continuing Legal Education course speaker to teach lawyers and judges in developments and the law, both in Wisconsin and nationally. Finally, Tom has also presented across the country, both online and in person, concerning the law and culture to the public.

In addition to speaking engagements, Tom has also contributed to the national conversation in writing on emerging legal topics and has been published in Conceal Carry Magazine and elsewhere on multiple occasions. He also edited the book and contributed legal input on various other publications, including the "Wisconsin Guide for Armed Citizens" on behalf of the National Association of Certified Firearm Instructors.

Tom Grieve is recognized among the top Wisconsin and Milwaukee area lawyers. Recently named once again as a top Wisconsin criminal defense attorney, Tom was inducted into the “Wisconsin Rising Star” category by Super Lawyers (a nationally acclaimed attorney rating organization). He was also chosen as a "Top 100 Trial Lawyers" in Wisconsin by the National Trial Lawyers Association. Tom was also chosen for the "Top Attorneys of Wisconsin" by both Milwaukee Magazine and Madison Magazine.

These are the stories you need to hear if you’re a person who conceal carries. The stories of the realities you never want to happen or experience. Thank you Tom for putting this out there. And thank Mike for telling us his story. It helped to make a difference.

This video was good, very good. I’m disabled and use a wheelchair. I carry in a Fannie pack a Taurus G2C with 5 magazines fully loaded.
It reminded me about keeping my mouth shut. Sorry about your friends friend. I just pray I am never put in his situation.

Shared this with my carrying friends and a "wanna be" carrier. Carrying a weapon is a huge responsibility.
It's not unicorns and fairy dust. Even if you're not the shooter, it still gets to you.
Thanks for sharing this intensely personal interview. Very valuable.

The pain on your face... Clearly I haven't had a chance to see this yet, but I'm feeling your pain.
Prayers for you and your friend. 🙏

I am reminded of when I discovered my Dad in the bathroom and found nothing but cold flesh when I felt for a pulse. I feel the pain that I see in your face.

Thank You for your willingness to share. It is rough to see someone, especially one you know, who has passed away for ANY reason, natural or not. For the sane person, it does not get easier with seeing additional persons who have passed away, nor should it. Death is an enemy, the final enemy, but one who has been ultimately defeated by Jesus Christ - whose story is readily shared this Passion Week between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday.

This is why I believe that regardless of your personal history, and regardless of your beliefs, you should carry.

Concealed, open, ... it doesn't matter. What matters is that you're never more than a harsh word or a bad situation away from having to be your own Secret Service/Bodyguard/EPP.

I survived a home invasion in Watts, where I was(unbeknownst to me at the time) the target. I have been a fighter and a martial artist since I was a kid, and I fought back viciously. I was still stabbed and left for dead. A firearm would have been the obvious answer, but even though I wasn't completely prohibited at the time, my brother was and it was at his house that this happened. I'm sure that I don't have to tell Mr. Greive why I was unarmed with more than a basic pocket knife.

The gun laws of our nation and especially California, nearly ended my life when I was 25. It is not too late to fix it so that it never happens to you. Oppose the FFA/NFA. Oppose the NERPOA.

If you don't, then you approve of what happened to me.

Thank you for this! I only carry occasional because my husband always carries. I will never leave again without a firearm! You just never know when you will need it.

Your friend/guest is absolutely telling the honest truth. Without getting into my details I have been on the receiving end of several nasty situations. The Good Lord & my training/experience saved my bacon.

One comment I have is if I was a landlord like Mike, with what seems to be an 'apartment complex' of sorts, I would absolutely have video surveillance in the public spaces - halls, entrances/exits, etc. There's no way I'd run something like that without video security. Even in 2016, cameras and NVRs weren't super expensive, and could have made the difference between the killer getting away or being identified and caught.

The victim used to be very careful about his safety to the point of being a bit paranoid: He was in something unknown.

I want to thank you and your guest it is very difficult after a situation like this. I was at the Vegas music festival when the shooting happened and made it out and still have trouble with crowds of people or a busy store. I have firearms and as long as I know the people with me I am ok once in a while it affects me. I will not let them classify me as PTSD because then I might have to give up my rights to bear arms and don’t want to rely on the police as you said putting me on hold while I’m waiting for someone to come to my aid. Again thank you.

After 30 years of LEO Service, I started having flashbacks of cases I worked. While still on the job it was all compartmentalized. Upon retiring I had nowhere to store that info. I had to break down and seek help from a former co-worker who became a licensed therapist and later a PhD. I didn't lay on a couch, we just talked. He was present during 9 or 10 years of our work history. That was enormous help.

So sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, this is the society we live in, and this could happen to anyone. Thanks for sharing your experience on such a tragic situation. God bless.
