This was written by Graham Nash to celebrate an "ordinary moment" in his life with Joni Mitchell. Joni literally bought a vase, and Graham lit a fire as she put flowers in it. They had two cats. So the whole song celebrates that time in their lives.

My grandpa died 28 years ago today . I remember about 30 years ago, driving back from fishing with my dad and grandpa in our 1981 olds tornado, eating a fish sandwich from hardees, and my grandpa starts singing this song. My dad turns to him and says "where did you hear that song?" and my grandpa says"I don't know but I really like it. My dad tells him that the song is from CSN. My grandpa hated 60's rock and refused to believe it. Just one of those moments that stick with you forever. This song bring me back to that moment. I wish I was there right now. Simpler times, love you guys.

I was best friends with this girl once, who always played this song to me whenever I was sad and it was our song. Sadly I'm not friends with her any longer, but few days ago I watched HIMYM and it was playing in the episode and brought so many nice memories :)
