I always felt that the reason someya uses a weapon here is because deep down he knows that he can’t beat kiryu hand to hand but he also knows that this time he can’t lose, hence why he decides to wield a katana.

Someya - A rare example of a true old school Yakuza in modern times. He fights to protect those important to him and is more than willing to die for them. You know Kiryu wanted to KILL Iwami for Someya too.

Yakuza 6 was a game rife with technical issue and strange decisions compared to previous installments, held aloft by incredible characters such as Someya and others. While it was at times painful playing through it, never was I bored.
