Last week, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban announced that he was seeking to redefine the Hungarian membership in NATO. So, in this video, we're going to take a look what this means, how Orban could change the membership, and whether this could affect the alliance more widely.

I don't get it tho. Ukraine isn't even part of NATO. What's the big fuss about marching in "protecting" a non NATO member? No one is obliged to do this

On a second note: the opposition members did not explicitly say they want to get Hungary directly involved in the conflict despite all state media twisting and turning their words in order to make the populus believe so.

Ukraine is NOT a NATO member, therefore, the mutual deffense obligation does not extend to Ukraine. It is simple as it is. Hungary does not need to opt out, simply it is AGAINST NATO membership to get involved into a non-member state's conflict.
There is a HUGE difference if a NATO member sends weapons or get involved in this conflict or if NATO itself does it. So eg. if France, a NATO member sends weapons, soldiers to Ukraine they do it as France and not as a NATO member. It has nothing to do with NATO.

You also missed that the Nato defensive clause does not apply in case NATO troops are attacked outside the border of member countries (with some additional limitation).

There is no mechanism to invoke article 5 for operation in Ukraine nor in case NATO troops in Ukraine are attacked or even in international waters. More precisely you can invoke article 5 and other members can decline because it doesn't apply.
