Yes it’s true the AC puts a load on the engine so it’s working little harder too go down the road. Once you turn the ac on you should notice the idle bump up a little you can really feel the engine rev up on hills with the ac on

Not using ac with the windows UP saves about as much gas as a stop/start system does.

Of course it consumes additional fuel! My mid-size european hatchback 1.6L 109hp, uses 8% more fuel on long trip with air recirculation on. It is tested by the method full tank - driving - full tank, at the same pump on the same gas station. Same driving conditions, same route.

If you really wanna save gas keep it at 65mph or slower and dont gun it at every stoplight/sign. The ac isnt a big deal on newer cars.

just check the acc belt ur ac works with it the pulley is not that strong u can spin it with ur finger but when the solenoid gets on the pully will feel the same but little bit of grip

Um, this is NOT accurate...using the AC 100% uses more gas in your vehicle. It's been tested and proven many times to use 5 to 20% more gas, depending on the vehicle. I believe the bigger the engine, the bigger the difference. Windows down also makes a difference but no where near what the AC running does, so it's better to roll the windows down if your trying to save on gas according to the testing.

Where I live thankfully it does not get that hot, even in summer; so I could live without using my AC but I enjoyed my creature comforts.
