We are mostly all slaves today. I pay over 50% of my income in taxes. It goes straight to the plantation owners.

Sooo..., We found a room we had no idea existed in Montecello. We have no artifacts tracing it back to Sally Hemmings. Nor do we have anything of any kind to support such, but because it supports the modern narrative of the need to uplift the role of Sally Hemming it therefore, was her room. I love how history is written. Never mind the number of other possibilities. They don't serve the narrative!!!

I have been to Monticello and my take is that the restoration is in fact an addition being made to fit the narrative, Both the narrative and the room have little if anything to do with history.

This video was SUPPOSED to be about the discovery of the secret room, instead, it was a video about Sally Hemmings. Only a few sentences giving scant information about the room. Thumbs down. And might I add, this channel I have found does this a great deal. I will never watch another video here.

Didn't come here for a made up black history lesson with nothing to back it up...

People need to understand not all slaves were treated badly. Some people, like Jefferson kept many, knowing they were better off with him than some ruthless owner. There were many families that treated their black workers like...well.. family. Some slaves were known to love and appreciate their masters. Some were even taught to read. It's the evil owners we've learned about in history that put it all in a bad light.

He would free the kids when they turned 21? Is he not a merciful and wise role model for our people? Lets put him on our money and build him a great monument.

This is not an expose'. It's been public knowledge about that room for some time now. Yes. It was Jefferson's room for and with Sally Hemmings. Her family/ancestors had a synopsis about it a few years ago. It was highly publicised.

OK where is the proof this was her room? Also a very misleading title consider about 30 seconds in total is any reference to the room... This is not history, we need facts and supporting information.. Did they find her name on the door? Maybe writing on wall " Sally woz here"..

secret room ? it was no secret, when they turned that room into public restroom for tourists
the secret 'is what the room originally was, his mistress room'

I went to Monticello when DNA evidence confirmed that he had fathered children with Hemmings and it was funny to listen to the guides try to parse it even though his contemporaries seem to have been fully aware

slavery was bad enough but that is completely bizarre how any man could keep his own children as slaves until they reach 21.

This whole Sally Hemings story stinks to high heaven.

I’m very light skinned. Several people in my family have done genealogical research plus had DNA tests. My oldest brothers DNA shows Black ancestry and we think it came from our great great great great grandmother who we think had a relationship with her slave master. I’m just wondering why this wasn’t shared by previous generations continually to us. If there ever was a picture of her I’d love to see it.

Only Thomas Jefferson as far as we know did not father any children with Sally. It is known that Thomas’s brother did. Maybe you should do more research.

Kept his slave as his concubine? Suuuurrreee, and the other slaves were just volunteers. 🤣 not likely

While he never bought slaves, he had no problem creating them. No hero.
