Surface Go Review (Closer Look at Pen and Writing)

Hi there!! A few weeks back I bought a Microsoft Surface Go for my college stuff. Before buying it, I did a lot of research to see what device might suit me best, and I had the problem that none of the Surface go reviews adequately talked about how well the pen writes. Since that is my main use of this device I wanted to share my experiences with everyone interested. Feel free to ask questions in the comments :))

So a little update: I called Microsoft support and they helped me fix the camera problem so I'm using this device free of problems :)

If you go to Settings > Devices > Pen and Windows Ink, there is an option to "ignore touch when using pen". Have you tried this? It might help with the faulty palm rejection. Also, I haven't been able to replicate the issue you demonstrate regardless of how I hold my pen, though I amusing a surface pro 5 (but they use the same tech for the pen).

Great, honest review. I'm frustrated by a few issues on the Surface Go too, but I love the form factor and the keyboard. It can get laggy at times, but there's just something about it! ;-)

Hi, I just had a couple questions regarding the surface Go (also a med student). How is multitasking? (E.g. opening chrome on left side, and one note on the right). Also, is it able to open large PDF documents without any trouble? And one last thing, for normal writing as you would on paper (with outer/smallest finger touching the screen), is it easily manageable without many issues? Sorry for the long list of questions, and thanks a lot!

Good news, on the newer surface go 2 and surface pro 7 palm rejection got much better and it is working without any issues for me, even though I write exactly like in the video.

Not sure if you will get this or not. But I am a doctor and thinking about getting this for soap note and patient note taking. Any advice or thoughts?

Thank god for the idea of using a cloth when writing. I hate taking notes on the surface because of the palm rejection issue. Plus I’m a leftie, so I’m writing a different angle. And My palm get sweaty really quick, so touching the screen wet was uncomfortable. With a cloth, all these will be eliminated. So thanks!

Thanks for the video. I just bought a Surface Go, in past I had a IPad 6th gen and I liked a lot but for my work windows is better.
In my iPad I had a screen protection film called Paper-like film. It changed completely the experience of writing, I recommend and also bought for my Surface. Waiting to receive it next week.

Do you know what version you have? I was considering the $399 Surface Go to use just for note taking in classes as I already have a Chromebook for schoolwork, bills, etc.

Hi friends, so quick update of my Surface Go. So yesterday my surface pen tip broke, tragic but easy fix (and amazon payed for it). When you buy new tips there are three types you automatically get and I've got to say i actually like the other options better than the OG tip. Also a friend of mine recently got the Pro 6 and I have to admit it does actually write quite a bit better, but its is the more expensive version so I wasn't too surprised. But yes if you all have questions about the Pro 6 too ask away :)

I was gonna upgrade from my surface go to an ipad pro 12.9 inch due to the bigger screen so i can use split screen while i write my notes but decided to save $ & get the surface pen instead after watching your video!
